Inleiding.
De vrijstaande VILLA is gebouwd in Expressionistische stijl in 1928, naar ontwerp van de architect J. Hurks.
Omschrijving.
De eenlaagse villa met rechthoekige plattegrond wordt gedomineerd door het hoge asymmetrische zadeldak met geglazuurde romaanse dakpannen, met de nokas haaks op de straat. De gevels van het pand zijn opgetrokken uit verschillende kleuren machinale baksteen. Aan de zijde van de Halsterseweg is de aanzet van het dak laag direct boven de luifel annex dakoverstek van het dubbele raam links. Het raam is geaccentueerd door hoekblokken. Rechts is er een rechthoekige erker met overstek. Op de etage is er een gekoppeld raam. Rechts rijst de asymmetrisch verspringende schoorsteen met hoekblokjes op. Het driehoekig uitspringend zolderraampje is geplaatst onder een vooruitspringend deel van de nok. De rechter zijgevel bezit een grote rechthoekige serre onder plat dak en verder op de etage kleinere ramen. De linker zijgevel is in het midden voorzien van een tweelaagse risaliet onder plat dak met overstek. Hierin de entree met rondboogportiek en geverniste rondboog paneeldeur. Er is een klein raam links van de deur en rechts een overhoeks groter raam. Boven de deur is er een groot en breed gedeelte met horizontale stroken glas-in-lood, ter verlichting van het achtergelegen trappenhuis. Naast dit gedeelte is er rechts het reeds boven genoemde raam en links een lager tweelaags deel onder plat dak met overstek, met ramen op begane grond en etage. Hierachter volgt een lagere aanbouw uit de bouwtijd onder zadeldak met romaanse dakpannen en enkele hooggeplaatste vensters.
Waardering.
De villa is van algemeen belang. Het pand heeft cultuurhistorisch belang als voorbeeld van de sociaal-economische ontwikkeling in het Interbellum en is van belang voor de typologische ontwikkeling van de stedelijke villa. Het gebouw heeft betekenis voor de architectuurgeschiedenis door de verzorgde en verfijnde detaillering, de afgewogen proporties en is tevens van belang als voorbeeld van het werk van de architect Hurks.
