Inleiding.
De R.K. PASTORIE behorend bij de reeds eerder van Rijkswege beschermde neogotische kerk van de H. Nicolaas, de opvolger van een oudere waterstaatskerk, is blijkens een jaarsteen gesticht in 1852 en in 1978 inwendig verbouwd. Het gebouw vertoont enige stijlelementen van het Neo-Classicisme. Het is gelegen ten oosten van de kerk en bevindt zich in een ruime parkachtige tuin, aangelegd in landschapsstijl, met aan de voorzijde van het gebouw een ovaal perk.
Omschrijving.
Tweelaags gebouw, opgetrokken uit handvorm baksteen en voorzien van een eenlaags dienstvleugel, gedekt met respectievelijk een schild- en zadeldak met verbeterde Hollandse pannen. De voorgevel heeft vijf traveeën en heeft door plint en cordonlijsten een horizontaal accent. Op de begane grond hoge achtruits schuiframen, op de verdieping zesruits ramen, beide in diepe raamnissen geplaatst. De dubbele voordeur heeft geprofileerde panelen en is gevat in een geprofileerde classicistische omlijsting met lijst op twee voluten. De gevel wordt afgesloten door een geprofileerde kroonlijst en heeft boven de middentravee een getoogde dakkapel met een vierruits schuifraam en voluutvormige wangen. Op de hoeken schoorstenen. In de rechter zijgevel op de verdieping een zesruits schuifraam. De achtergevel heeft evenals de voorgevel vijf assen en beneden acht- en boven zesruits schuiframen. In de twee linker benedenvakken zijn deze ramen gewijzigd tot openslaande ramen. De gevel wordt afgesloten door een geprofileerde kroonlijst. De achterdeur bestaat uit een openslaande deur met sierroosters in gietijzer, gevat in een gestucte omlijsting. Voor de deur een trap met gietijzeren looproosters tussen bakstenen wangen.
De dienstvleugel, oorspronkelijk kosterswoning en koetshuis, heeft een schilddak met plat en heeft aan de voorzijde zeven achtruits ramen en een paneeldeur met glas. De gevel wordt hier afgesloten door een geprofileerde lijst. De zijgevel heeft deels vernieuwde zes- en vierruits ramen. In de achtergevel, afgesloten door een gootlijst op klossen, een tweetal rozetramen, een deur en drie achtruits schuiframen.
Inwendig onder meer een middengang met pilastergeleding, paneeldeuren en kruisgraatgewelven in stuc. In de suitekamer rechts van de gang raamluikjes, stucplafonds en suitedeuren uit de bouwtijd. Op de zolder sporen van de oorspronkelijke gesleepte schoorsteenkanalen en een originele dienstbodenkamer met Brabantse wanden. In de dienstvleugel een trap uit de bouwtijd en in het trapportaal een bovenlicht met stuccassetten. Rozetraam met mousselineglas en geëtst raam bij de toiletten. Tegen de schansmuur die het erf van de pastorie aan de achterzijde scheidt van het kerkterrein een oude grafzerk.
Waardering.
De pastorie is van algemeen belang. Het gebouw heeft cultuurhistorische waarde als uitdrukking van de ontwikkeling van de katholieke emancipatie in het bisdom 's-Hertogenbosch. Het heeft architectuurhistorische waarde als specimen van de toepassing van eenvoudige aan het Neo-Classicisme ontleende vormelementen en heeft tevens belang voor de bouwhistorie door de aanwezigheid van de eiken bekapping. The R.K. RECTORY belonging to the neogothic church of H. Two-storey building, constructed of handmade brickwork and provided with a single-storey service wing, covered respectively with a hipped roof and gabled roof with improved Dutch tiles. The front facade has five bays and has a horizontal emphasis through plinth and cordon mouldings. On the ground floor tall eight-pane sash windows, on the first floor six-pane windows, both placed in deep window recesses. The double front door has profiled panels and is set in a profiled Classicist surround with moulding on two volutes. The facade is finished with a profiled cornice and has above the central bay an arched roof dormer with a four-pane sash window and volute-shaped flanks. Chimneys on the corners. In the right side facade on the first floor a six-pane sash window. The rear facade has, like the front facade, five axes and below eight-pane and above six-pane sash windows. In the two left ground bays these windows have been converted to casement windows. The facade is finished with a profiled cornice. The rear door consists of a casement door with ornamental cast-iron grilles, set in a stucco surround. In front of the door a flight of steps with cast-iron treads between brick flanks.
The service wing, originally a sacristan's dwelling and coach house, has a hipped roof with flat section and has on the front facade seven eight-pane windows and a panelled door with glass. The facade is finished here with a profiled moulding. The side facade has partly renewed six- and four-pane windows. In the rear facade, finished with a gutter moulding on corbels, a pair of rose windows, a door and three eight-pane sash windows.
Interior features among others a central corridor with pilaster articulation, panelled doors and cross-vault ceilings in stucco. In the suite room to the right of the corridor window shutters, stucco ceilings and suite doors from the period of construction. In the left front room stucco ceiling and window shutters.
