Rooms Katholieke kerk van de Heilige Nicolaas, in de jaren 1901-1903 gebouwd naar ontwerp van J.H.H. van Groenendael.
Omschrijving
Driebeukige, neogotische kruisbasiliek met hoge westtoren, in de trant van de late Nederrijnse gotiek. De westtoren met ingang heeft een vierkante plattegrond, telt vier geledingen en heeft op de hoeken natuurstenen pinakels; torenrestauratie in 1985-1986. Schip met arcade, blind triforium, lichtbeuk en lagere zijbeuken van vijf traveeën lengte, transeptarmen ter lengte van anderhalve travee en aansluitend op een koor met driehoekige sluiting. Naast de apsis driezijdig gesloten zijkapellen. Doop- en bidkapel aan noord- en zuidzijde van de toren. Achthoekige vieringstoren op de kruising van schip en transept. De in rode baksteen opgetrokken kerk is met banden in lichte baksteen uitgevoerd. Het gehele monument is zeer zorgvuldig gedetailleerd (o.a. in balustrades, boogfriezen, traceringen). Klokkenstoel met gelui bestaande uit vier klokken, waarvan een klok van Petit en Fritsen, 1927, diam. 66 cm. en drie moderne klokken. Mechanisch torenuurwerk, A. Vos en Zonen, 1906. Inwendig zuilen en pijlers met bladkapitelen, vierdelige kruisribgewelven. Kapellen gewijd aan Onze Lieve Vrouw, H. Familie, Doopkapel en Sint Nicolaaskapel. Het interieur beschikt verder o.m. over altaar van de Heilige Familie, beelden van de H. Job, H. Maria, H. Nicolaas en Heilig Hart van Jezus, biechtstoelen, communiebank, doopvont met smeedijzeren draaiarm, Godslampen (twee), glas-in-loodvensters, hoofdaltaar (1908) van H. van der Geld, koperen kroonluchters (twee), Kruisbeeld (verguld, hangend), houten kruis met passiewerktuigen, H. Maagd met Kind (van koper, hangend), Maria-altaar, neogotisch meubilair uit de bouwtijd, offerblokken, preekstoel, originele polychromie van Jos Lommen (1914) en Emmanuel Pereij (1916-1917), tableau's boven de biechtstoelen en beschilderde koperen kruiswegstaties van de gebroeders Windhausen, originele (tegel)vloeren, wijwatervaten.

Three-aisled, neo-gothic cruciform basilica with tall west tower, in the manner of late Lower Rhine gothic. The west tower with entrance has a square plan, comprises four storeys and has natural stone pinnacles at the corners; tower restoration in 1985-1986. Nave with arcade, blind triforium, clerestory and lower side aisles of five bays in length, transept arms of one and a half bays in length and adjoining a choir with triangular termination. Beside the apse three-sided closed side chapels. Baptistry and prayer chapel on north and south sides of the tower. Octagonal crossing tower at the intersection of nave and transept. The church, constructed in red brick, is executed with bands in light brick. The entire monument is very carefully detailed (including in balustrades, arch friezes, traceries).
