Inleiding
Voormalig DISTRIBUTIEGEBOUW van een textielfabrikant(?), thans in gebruik als kantoorgebouw, ca. 1920-1925 gebouwd in een zakelijk expressionistische bouwtrant met enkele art déco-motieven, vermoedelijk naar ontwerp van architect W. Diehl. Het pand staat op de noordoostelijke hoek van de Pastoorstraat en de Kerkstraat en is opgenomen in de aaneengesloten gevelwanden van beide straten. De belendende bebouwing is in de Kerkstraat lager dan, en in de Pastoorstraat vrijwel even hoog als het hoekpand.
Omschrijving
Hoekpand van drie in hoogte afnemende bouwlagen met afgeschuinde hoek op vrijwel rechthoekig grondplan. Het platte dak heeft een fors houten overstek op gesneden klossen met bollen. De geprofileerde gootlijst is voorzien van een tandlijstje. De regenpijpen zijn gedeeltelijk in de pilasters opgenomen.
De beide STRAATGEVELS zijn opgetrokken in donkerrode baksteen in verschillende verbanden met geknipte voegen en worden geleed door bakstenen pilasters met siermetselwerk (uitgemetselde lagen baksteen en fantasie kapitelen). De gevels aan de Kerkstraat en de Pastoorstraat hebben respectievelijk een omvang van zeven en zes traveeën. Tussen de pilasters bevinden zich een hoge, schuin geplaatste bakstenen plint en rollagen boven de vensters. De gevels worden afgesloten door een fries van verticaal metselwerk met een uitgemetselde baksteenlaag en rollaag.
De begane grond bezit grote rechthoekige vensters met elk een tweedelig bovenlicht (drieruits valramen) en kalf met tandlijst. De vensters met middenstijl op de eerste verdieping bestaan uit twee gekoppelde draairamen met bakstenen lekdorpels. De tweede verdieping bezit om en om een venster met gekoppelde draairamen of een kruiskozijn met bovenlichten (tweeruits valramen).
De gevel aan de Pastoorstraat heeft voorts een door twee extra pilasters geaccentueerde ingang in de linker travee. De ingang bestaat uit een dubbele paneeldeur met twee maal vier panelen, een geprofileerd kalf en een tweedelig bovenlicht (drieruits valramen). In de derde travee van rechts in de gevel aan de Kerkstraat bevond zich oorspronkelijk waarschijnlijk een ingang. Deze travee heeft op de eerste verdieping een inpandig driezijdig balkon met bakstenen balustrade en twee enkelruits deuren met gezandstraald glas, en op de tweede verdieping een tegeltableau met terracotta-omlijsting (rankwerk). Op het in bruine tegels uitgevoerde tableau zijn een goud geschilderd monogram ("TvH") en vier palmetmotieven aangebracht.
De hoofdingang van het pand bevindt zich in de afgeschuinde hoek en bestaat uit een houten paneeldeur tussen inspringende dagkanten en hardstenen stoep, onderdorpel en neuten. Boven de ingang bevindt zich een uitgemetseld (trapeziumvormig) geveldeel met siermetselwerk. De hoek is op de verdiepingen voorzien van smalle vensters van hetzelfde type als elders in de tweede bouwlaag.
Het INTERIEUR heeft een sterk gewijzigde indeling. Oorspronkelijke interieurelementen zijn onder meer een wenteltrap met gietijzeren spil, stootborden met kruismotieven en sierlijke leuning met houten handlijst, en een kelder met troggewelven op ijzeren liggers.

Former DISTRIBUTION BUILDING of a textile manufacturer(?), now in use as an office building, built ca. 1920-1925 in a businesslike expressionist style with some Art Deco motifs, presumably designed by architect W. Diehl. The building stands on the northeastern corner of the Pastoorstraat and the Kerkstraat and is included in the continuous facade walls of both streets. The adjoining buildings are lower than the corner building in the Kerkstraat, and roughly the same height as the corner building in the Pastoorstraat.
Description
Corner building of three storeys decreasing in height with chamfered corner on roughly rectangular floor plan. The flat roof has a substantial wooden overhang on carved brackets with bulges. The moulded gutter line is provided with a small dentil moulding. The rainwater pipes are partially incorporated in the pilasters.
Both STREET FACADES are built in dark red brick in various bonds with pointed joints and are articulated by brick pilasters with decorative brickwork (laid brick layers and fantasy capitals). The facades on the Kerkstraat and the Pastoorstraat have respectively a span of seven and six bays. Between the pilasters are a tall, diagonally placed brick plinth and roll mouldings above the windows. The facades are terminated by a frieze of vertical brickwork with a laid brick layer and roll moulding.
The ground floor has large rectangular windows each with a two-part fanlight (three-pane casement windows) and frame with dentil moulding. The windows with centre mullion on the first floor consist of two coupled casement windows with brick lekdorpels. The second floor has alternately a window with coupled casement windows or a cross window with fanlights (two-pane casement windows).
The facade on the Pastoorstraat furthermore has an entrance in the left bay accentuated by two additional pilasters. The entrance consists of a double panelled door with four panels each, a moulded frame and a two-part fanlight (three-pane casement windows). In the third bay from the right in the facade on the Kerkstraat was probably originally an entrance. This bay has on the first floor an inbuilt three-sided balcony with brick balustrade and two single-pane doors with sandblasted glass, and on the second floor a tile tableau with terracotta edging (scrollwork). On the tableau executed in brown tiles are a gold-painted monogram ("TvH") and four palmette motifs.
The main entrance of the building is located in the chamfered corner and consists of a wooden panelled door between recessed reveals and stone step, underdorpel and neuten. Above the entrance is a laid brick (trapezoidal) facade section with decorative brickwork. The corner is provided on the storeys with narrow windows of the same type as elsewhere in the second storey.
The INTERIOR has a substantially altered layout. Original interior elements include a spiral staircase with cast-iron spindle, treads with cross motifs and ornamental balustrade with wooden handrail, and a cellar with trough vaults on iron beams.
