Inleiding:
Twee WINKELS met BOVENWONING gebouwd ca. 1890-1895 in eclectische stijl met invloeden van neorenaissance. Het pand heeft een rijk gedetailleerde voorgevel en is gelegen in de aaneengesloten oostelijke gevelwand van de Koningstraat.
Omschrijving:
Twee WINKELS met BOVENWONING in een op rechthoekig grondplan opgetrokken pand van drie bouwlagen met een zolderverdieping, onder een met pannen gedekt schilddak. In het dakschild aan de voorzijde bevindt zich een witgeschilderde halfrond afgesloten dakkapel met tonvormig dakje, geprofileerde lijst en raam met rondboogbovenlicht.
De symmetrisch ingedeelde VOORGEVEL is boven de winkelpui opgetrokken uit in kruisverband gemetselde baksteen en is vier traveeën breed. Ter plaatse van de tweede verdieping vormen de tweede en derde travee een licht risalerend veld, rustend op een witgeschilderde lijst op consoles. De gevel is voorzien van witgeschilderde gestucte speklagen, waterlijsten en diamantkoppen en wordt afgesloten door een witgeschilderd gekornist hoofdgestel, waarvan de geprofileerde kroonlijst gedragen wordt door gepaarde bewerkte consoles. Iedere travee bevat twee getoogde vensters boven elkaar. De vensters op de eerste verdieping zijn voorzien van schuiframen en witgestucte tandstenen en worden afgesloten door een witgestuct hoofdgestel met consoles, waarboven hanekammen met witgestucte boog- en sluitstenen. De vensters op de tweede verdieping zijn voorzien van stolpramen, gietijzeren raamhekjes en witgestucte tandstenen met diamantkoppen en worden afgesloten door een segmentboog met witgestucte boog- en sluitstenen. De sluitstenen hebben diamantkoppen.
De winkelpui heeft geen relatie met het bovenste deel van de voorgevel. De pui wordt afgesloten door een puibalk in de vorm van een hoofdgestel, gedragen door penanten die zijn uitgevoerd als gecanneleerde pilasters. De pilasters staan op hoge van bossages voorziene hardstenen basementen, worden onderbroken door diamantkoppen en afgesloten door geornamenteerde blokken op gepaarde consoles.
De pui is in drie segmentboogvormig afgesloten openingen verdeeld door twee gecanneleerde gietijzeren zuiltjes met vlechtbanden, composietkapitelen en van bossages voorziene hardstenen basementen. De kapitelen bevinden zich ter hoogte van de deurkalven, hierboven worden de zuiltjes voortgezet door een bewerkte vierkante stijl met vellingen. De segmentbogen hebben bewerkte houten zwikken. Het hoofdgestel dat de pui afsluit is voorzien van bewerkte consoles en diamantkoppen.
De middelste opening is iets smaller en bevat een taps naar binnen toelopend portiek met terrazzovloer, houten raam- en deuromlijstingen met vlechtband- en bladmotieflijsten en ijzeren roosters, verder een stucplafond met geprofileerde lijsten en een rijk geornamenteerde houten neorenaissance deur met twee koperen knoppen en een ijzeren brievenbus. De twee winkeldeuren die deze deur oorspronkelijk flankeerden zijn vervangen door ramen. De bovenlichten zijn nog aanwezig. De toegang tot de winkels ligt nu aan de voorzijde, waar de plint en de oorspronkelijke etalageramen verwijderd zijn.
Het INTERIEUR van de winkels is volledig gemoderniseerd.

Two SHOPS with UPPER DWELLING in a building erected on a rectangular ground plan of three storeys with an attic storey, under a pan-tiled hipped roof. In the front roof slope there is a whitewashed semicircular-shaped roof dormer with barrel-shaped small roof, profiled moulding and window with round-arched fanlight.
The symmetrically arranged FRONT FACADE above the shopfront is erected of brick laid in English bond and is four bays wide. At the level of the second storey the second and third bays form a slightly projecting field, resting on a whitewashed moulded list on consoles. The facade is provided with whitewashed stuccoed speckled courses, drip mouldings and diamond bosses and is finished with a whitewashed corniced main cornice, of which the profiled cornice is supported by paired worked consoles. Each bay contains two arched windows one above the other. The windows on the first storey are provided with sash windows and whitestuccoed dentil course and are finished by a whitestuccoed main cornice with consoles, above which are crested ridges with whitestuccoed arched and keystone courses. The windows on the second storey are provided with casement windows, cast iron window grilles and whitestuccoed dentil course with diamond bosses and are finished by a segmental arch with whitestuccoed arch and keystone courses. The keystones have diamond bosses.
The shopfront bears no relation to the upper part of the front facade. The front is finished by a shopfront rail in the form of a main cornice, supported by pilasters executed as fluted pilasters. The pilasters stand on high rusticated sandstone bases, are interrupted by diamond bosses and finished by ornamented blocks on paired consoles.
The front is divided into three segmental arch-shaped openings by two fluted cast iron columns with band-weaving, Composite capitals and rusticated sandstone bases. The capitals are located at the level of the door sills, above which the columns are continued by a worked square pilaster with splayed edges. The segmental arches have worked wooden spandrels. The main cornice that finishes the front is provided with worked consoles and diamond bosses.
The middle opening is slightly narrower and contains a tapering inward-facing portico with terrazzo floor, wooden frame and door surrounds with band-weaving and leaf motif mouldings and iron grilles, furthermore a stucco ceiling with profiled mouldings and a richly ornamented wooden Neo-Renaissance door with two copper knobs and an iron letterbox. The two shop doors which originally flanked this door have been replaced by windows. The fanlights are still present. The access to the shops is now at the front, where the plinth and the original display windows have been removed.
