Omschrijving
WOONBLOK aan de oostzijde van het Mussenplein, bestaande uit een rijtje van acht woningen. De noordelijke eindwoning is ten opzichte van de overige woningen een kwartslag gedraaid en heeft de ingang aan de 3e Mussenstraat. De nagenoeg identieke zuidelijke eindwoning heeft een hiervan afwijkende ingangspartij die hier bovendien aan de voorzijde is gesitueerd. De tussenwoningen zijn twee aan twee geschakeld met gekoppelde topgevels afwisselend aan de voor- en achterzijde. De woningen met een topgevel aan de voorzijde hebben in het achterschild een brede platgedekte houten dakkapel met drie gekoppelde klapramen. Omgekeerd geldt hetzelfde. Het dak bestaat aldus uit een langgerekt schilddak met aankappingen ter plaatse van de topgevels aan de voor- en achterzijde. De schoorstenen op de nok worden afgesloten door enkele uitgemetselde lagen baksteen. De daken zijn belegd met rode verbeterde hollandse pannen en wateren af via houten bakgoten op klossen. De topgevels worden afgesloten door geprofileerde windveren. De rode bakstenen gevels zijn in kruisverband gemetseld. Het trasraam wordt, evenals alle muuropeningen, afgesloten door een rollaag.
Met uitzondering van de gedraaide eindwoning hebben alle woningen in de VOORGEVEL een groot rechthoekig venster met twee gekoppelde schuiframen (oorspronkelijk met schuivende meerruits onder- en benedenramen) en een terugliggende ingangspartij met afgeschuinde zijde en afsluitende houten latei met geknipte loodslabben. De ingangen van de tussenwoningen zijn gekoppeld. Deze ondiepe portieken bezitten per woning een opgeklampte deur met klein zijlicht en een smal venster (draaiend onderraam, klappend bovenlicht) in de afgeschuinde zijde. De woningen met een topgevel aan de voorzijde hebben hier een breed rechthoekig venster met vier gekoppelde enkelruits ramen (vijf in de topgevels van de eindwoningen). De noordelijke eindwoning heeft voorts in deze gevel een rechthoekig kelderlicht in het trasraam en een groot rechthoekig venster met drie gekoppelde schuiframen in de eerste bouwlaag.
De LINKER ZIJGEVEL aan de 3e Mussenstraat heeft rechts de ingangspartij onder doorgetrokken dakschild van de noordelijke eindwoning. Dit ondiepe portiek bezit een opgeklampte deur met drie flankerende raampjes. De lateibalk wordt ondersteund door een bewerkte houten hoekstijl. Deze hoekstijl is geplaatst op een lage bakstenen muurdam met hardstenen afdekking. Het geveldeel met topgevel links van het portiek heeft in de eerste bouwlaag een ingang (thans venster) en in de geveltop een rechthoekig enkelruits raam.
De RECHTER ZIJGEVEL is voorzien van een trappenhuisvenster en (oorspronkelijk) een ingang. Het gedeelte van de gevel boven de (oorspronkelijke) ingang is uitgevoerd als een kleine topgevel waarin een rechthoekig venster met enkelruits raam.
Elke woning bezit in de ACHTERGEVEL een groot rechthoekig vensters met twee of drie gekoppelde ramen (stolp- en/of schuiframen met bovenlichten). De uitbouwen met plat dak of onder doorgetrokken dakschild zijn niet oorspronkelijk. Boven de platgedekte uitbouwen bevinden zich reeksen enkelruits valraampjes. De gekoppelde topgevels (nummers 3;4 en 7;8) hebben elk een breed rechthoekig venster met vier gekoppelde enkelruits ramen. De overige woningen hebben een brede houten dakkapel.

- Van architectuurhistorische waarde als goed en gaaf voorbeeld van een rijtje arbeiderswoningen met een traditionele hoofdopzet en zorgvuldig gedetailleerde architectuur. De hoofdvorm en de gevelindeling zijn goed bewaard gebleven. Het object is een goed voorbeeld van het werk van de architect J.H. DE ROOS (1875-1942) en W.F. OVEREYNDER (1875-1941) en van bijzondere betekenis voor het oeuvre van dit architectenbureau.

RESIDENTIAL BLOCK on the east side of the Mussenplein, consisting of a row of eight dwellings. The northern end dwelling is rotated a quarter turn relative to the other dwellings and has its entrance on the 3e Mussenstraat. The nearly identical southern end dwelling has a different entrance section which is moreover situated at the front. The intermediate dwellings are coupled two by two with paired stepped gables alternating at the front and rear. The dwellings with a stepped gable at the front have in the rear wall a wide flat-roofed wooden roof dormer with three paired roof windows. The reverse applies likewise. The roof thus consists of an elongated hipped roof with roof cappings at the location of the stepped gables at the front and rear. The chimneys on the ridge are finished with a few courses of laid brick. The roofs are covered with red improved Dutch tiles and drain via wooden gutters on corbels. The stepped gables are finished with moulded wind-vanes. The red brick facades are laid in English bond. The ground-floor window is, as are all wall openings, finished with a relieving arch.
With the exception of the rotated end dwelling, all dwellings have in the FRONT FACADE a large rectangular window with two paired sash windows (originally with sliding multiple-pane lower and main windows) and a recessed entrance section with bevelled side and closing wooden lintel with cut lead slabs. The entrances of the intermediate dwellings are coupled. These shallow porches have per dwelling a clamped door with small sidelight and a narrow window (rotating lower sash, folding fanlight) in the bevelled side. The dwellings with a stepped gable at the front have here a wide rectangular window with four paired single-pane windows (five in the stepped gables of the end dwellings). The northern end dwelling furthermore has in this facade a rectangular basement light in the ground-floor window and a large rectangular window with three paired sash windows in the first storey.
The LEFT SIDE FACADE on the 3e Mussenstraat has on the right the entrance section under extended roof structure of the northern end dwelling. This shallow porch has a clamped door with three flanking small windows. The lintel beam is supported by a worked wooden corner post. This corner post is placed on a low brick wall dam with hardstone capping. The gable section with stepped gable to the left of the porch has in the first storey an entrance (now window) and in the gable top a rectangular single-pane window.
The RIGHT SIDE FACADE is provided with a staircase window and (originally) an entrance. The part of the facade above the (original) entrance is executed as a small stepped gable in which a rectangular window with single-pane window.
Each dwelling has in the REAR FACADE a large rectangular window with two or three paired windows (pivot and/or sash windows with fanlights). The extensions with flat roof or under extended roof structure are not original. Above the flat-roofed extensions are situated rows of single-pane pivot windows. The paired stepped gables (numbers 3;4 and 7;8) each have a wide rectangular window with four paired single-pane windows. The other dwellings have a wide wooden roof dormer.
