H. HARTBEELD uit 1926 van de Bredase beeldhouwer C.A.(Kees) Smout (het beeld is gesigneerd met Casmout), gegoten door de Düsseldpf. Bronzegiesserei G.M.B.H. Het beeld staat in het hart van de oprijlaan naar de St. Lambertuskerk op een kleine verhoging met een frontale trap aan de Markt opzij en aan de achterkant beschermd door een lage halfronde schansmuur.
Omschrijving.
Het bronzen beeld heeft een vierkante travertin sokkel met een Noors granieten plint en bloktrede. Op de sokkel staat: "Etten aan het Heilig Hart". Het beeld stelt Christus Koning voor met opgeheven armen. De schansmuur is van paarsrode baksteen afgedekt door hetzelfde graniet.
Waardering.
Het H. Hartbeeld is van algemeen belang vanwege de cultuurhistorische waarde. Het geeft door zijn situering in het hart van Etten-Leur een indruk van de culturele, sociale en geestelijke ontwikkeling van de dorpsgemeenschap uit die jaren juist op het laatste 20ste-eeuwse hoogtepunt van de H. Hart-devotie. Daarnaast bezit het hoogwaardige esthetische kwaliteiten. Tevens is het van bijzonder belang in het oeuvre van de kerkelijke beeldhouwer C.A. Smout.

SACRED HEART STATUE from 1926 by Breda sculptor C.A. (Kees) Smout (the statue is signed Casmout), cast by the Düsseldorf Bronzegiesserei G.M.B.H. The statue stands in the heart of the approach drive to the St. Lambertuskerk on a small elevation with a frontal staircase at the Markt to the side and protected at the back by a low semicircular embankment wall.
Description.
The bronze statue has a square travertine plinth with a Norwegian granite base and block step. On the plinth: "Etten aan het Heilig Hart". The statue represents Christ the King with arms raised. The embankment wall is of purplish-red brickwork topped with the same granite.
Valuation.
The Sacred Heart statue is of general importance because of its cultural-historical value. Through its location in the heart of Etten-Leur it conveys an impression of the cultural, social and spiritual development of the village community from those years precisely at the last 20th-century peak of Sacred Heart devotion. Furthermore it possesses high aesthetic qualities. It is also of particular importance in the oeuvre of church sculptor C.A. Smout.
