Omschrijving
Inleiding

Description
Introduction
A completely detached CROSS-PASSAGE FARMHOUSE dating from 1898 with entrance on the short gable. The building, erected in traditional craftsman forms and formerly part of the municipality of Heesch, is situated on the western side of the exit road from Oss to Heesch.
Description
The completely detached short-gable farmhouse of one storey has a rectangular ground plan with its length axis perpendicular to the road. The facades are built in machine-made brick laid in English bond. The building has a curved gabled roof covered with Dutch tiles and topped with a thatched roof-ridge detail. The facades have a high, cemented plinth with a drip moulding in the residential section. The fenestration of the facades is still authentic. On the rear side a small stable space has been built under a lean-to roof covered with tiles. Above this roof a bricked-up hay loft opening is visible in the rear facade. The front door was narrowed somewhat around 1960. To the left of the front door is a limestone facade stone with an engraved name and date (1898) mounted. Facade with straight-closed windows and six-pane sash windows. The shutters are still present. The top of the front facade is slightly damaged on the north side during the Second World War; the brickwork has been repaired. Straight shear anchors. Stable section with small segmental-arch windows with glazing bars. On the north side are the large wooden divided doors. Internally the building still possesses the original layout with ceiling beams and plank floors. At the front is the residential section with adjoining kitchen. In the kitchen is the smoke duct with a built brick rectangular chimney on the roof. On the right side is the small upper chamber with a cellar beneath it. The cellar is partly above ground and receives light through a small rectangular window that is still just within the plinth zone. Behind the kitchen section begins the stable space with hay loft. The stable section has an exposed roof truss structure with purlins and straw props.
Valuation
The farmhouse possesses cultural-historical value as a remarkable expression of the socio-economic development of the small holding. The farmhouse has architectural-historical significance because of the remarkable coherence between exterior and interior. The farmhouse is important because of the integrity of exterior and interior; in particular because of the layout and the cellarage beneath the upper chamber. The farmhouse is of general importance because of the historical-construction-technical and typological rarity.
