Inleiding
De voormalige DIRECTEURSWONING hoort bij de voormalige coöperatieve zuivelfabriek "De Goede Verwachting" uit 1897-1915/ 1920, nu bedrijf voor landbouwwerktuigen. De dienstwoning is tegelijk met het hoofdgebouw gerealiseerd en vertoont elementen van de Art Nouveau. De woning is tegen de zuidwestelijke gevel van de fabriek opgetrokken, in de verlenging van het fabrieksgebouw en is naar het zuiden gericht. Aan de voor- en westzijde van het pand ligt een vrij smalle strook groen, die omsloten wordt door een laag muurtje met ezelsrug uit de jaren dertig. In oorsprong werd het hele complex begrensd door een IJZEREN HEKWERK, dat zowel de woning als het hoofdgebouw aan de zuid- en westzijde omsloot. Een restant van dit ijzeren hek -dat uitgevoerd was in de stijl van de Art Nouveau- staat bij het fabrieksgebouw, op de noordelijke oever van de Witmarsumervaart.
Omschrijving
De directeurswoning is één bouwlaag hoog, heeft een nagenoeg vierkante plattegrond en wordt gedekt door een samengesteld dak. Dit bestaat uit een zadeldak en een schilddak van rood geglazuurde tuile de Nord pannen. De daklijst steunt op houten klossen. Het pand is uit bruine baksteen opgetrokken; voor de decoratieve gemetselde motieven -zoals het fries en de bogen boven de vensters- zijn rode en gele bakstenen gebruikt. Drie witte banden decoreren op vensterhoogte de gevels. In de westgevel zitten drie vensters; in de noordgevel een venster, een deur met zijlicht en drie nieuwe vensters, de oostgevel grenst aan het fabrieksgebouw, in de zuidgevel zit een driedelig venster, de toegangsdeur en in de topgevel een erker waarop een balkon met houten leuning en balkondeuren. Introduction
The former DIRECTOR'S HOUSE belongs to the former cooperative dairy factory "De Goede Verwachting" from 1897-1915/1920, now an agricultural machinery business. The service house was realised at the same time as the main building and exhibits Art Nouveau elements. The house was built against the south-western facade of the factory, in line with the factory building and is oriented towards the south. On the front and west side of the property is a fairly narrow strip of green, enclosed by a low wall with saddle coping from the 1930s. Originally the entire complex was bounded by an IRON RAILING, which enclosed both the house and the main building on the south and west sides. A remnant of this iron railing - which was executed in Art Nouveau style - stands at the factory building, on the northern bank of the Witmarsumervaart.
Description
The director's house is one storey high, has an almost square floor plan and is covered by a composite roof. This consists of a gabled roof and a hipped roof of red glazed tuile de Nord tiles. The roof cornice is supported on wooden blocks. The building is constructed of brown brick; for the decorative brickwork motifs - such as the frieze and the arches above the windows - red and yellow bricks are used. Three white bands decorate the facades at window height. The west facade has three windows; the north facade has a window, a door with sidelight and three new windows; the east facade borders the factory building; the south facade has a three-part window, the entrance door, and in the gable a bay window with a balcony with wooden railing and balcony doors.
