Inleiding
RENTENIERSWONING gebouwd omstreeks 1890 in een Eclectische bouwstijl. Het pand werd in 1931 aan de achterzijde uitgebreid met een platte aanbouw met erker door architect A. Siekman uit Zuidhorn. Nog weer later is het schuurgedeelte waarschijnlijk iets vergroot aan de westzijde en in 1971 is de plattegrond deels gewijzigd en de kap vernieuwd. Oorspronkelijk had het huis een attiek; deze is nu verdwenen. Achter de woning staat een koetshuis, dat wegens ingrijpende wijzigingen buiten de bescherming valt.
De rentenierswoning is gelegen op een ruime kavel grond en heeft een vrij diepe voor- en achtertuin. Restanten van een ijzeren toegangshek markeren het toegangspad naar de woning. Het pand is rustiek gelegen in het als beschermd gezicht voorgedragen gebied De Gast.
Omschrijving
RENTENIERSWONING opgetrokken in een bruinrode baksteen op een gepleisterd trasraam. Het schilddak, gedekt met een (vernieuwde) zwarte Hollandse pan, heeft een kroonlijst en twee (oorspronkelijk vier) gemetselde schoorstenen met kap. De hoofdentree bevindt zich midden in de voorgevel (oost) in een portiek en wordt benadrukt door twee gepleisterde pilasters met fronton, gedecoreerd met gepleisterde ornamenten. De gepleisterde portiek heeft een gepleisterde omlijsting bestaande uit twee gegroefde pilasters met kapiteel en gebogen kroonlijst met bovenop een rand van ornamenten, en een natuurstenen stoep (vier treden). In de portiek een dubbele paneeldeur met (vernieuwde) deurlichten met gietijzeren panelen onder een licht getoogd bovenlicht. In de voorgevel tevens vier licht getoogde H-vensters met gepleisterde omlijsting met kuif. Op de hoeken van de voorgevel gepleisterde hoekpilasters met gepleisterde ornamenten.
In de noordgevel een licht getoogd H-venster, een licht getoogd T-venster, een blind venster, alledrie met gepleisterde omlijsting met kuif, en een licht getoogd tweeruits keldervenster met diefijzers.
In de zuidgevel een licht getoogd H-venster met gepleisterd omlijsting en kuif, een blind venster en een T-venster.
De achtergevel is wegens verbouw en jongere aanbouw van ondergeschikt belang.

RENTIER'S RESIDENCE built circa 1890 in an Eclectic building style. The property was extended on the rear side in 1931 with a flat extension with bay window by architect A. Siekman from Zuidhorn. Later still the shed section was probably enlarged somewhat on the west side and in 1971 the plan was partly altered and the roof renewed. Originally the house had an attic storey; this has now disappeared. Behind the residence stands a carriage house, which falls outside protection due to major alterations.
The rentier's residence is located on a spacious plot of land and has a fairly deep front and rear garden. Remnants of an iron access gate mark the access path to the residence. The property is rurally located in the area proposed as a protected townscape De Gast.

RENTIER'S RESIDENCE built in a brown-red brick on a plastered trasram. The hipped roof, covered with a (renewed) black Dutch tile, has a cornice and two (originally four) mortared chimneys with cap. The main entrance is located in the centre of the front facade (east) in a porch and is emphasised by two plastered pilasters with pediment, decorated with plastered ornaments. The plastered porch has a plastered frame consisting of two fluted pilasters with capital and curved cornice with on top a row of ornaments, and a natural stone step (four treads). In the porch a double panel door with (renewed) door lights with cast-iron panels under a slightly arched fanlight. In the front facade also four slightly arched H-windows with plastered frame with hood. At the corners of the front facade plastered corner pilasters with plastered ornaments.
In the north facade a slightly arched H-window, a slightly arched T-window, a blind window, all three with plastered frame with hood, and a slightly arched two-light basement window with security bars.
In the south facade a slightly arched H-window with plastered frame and hood, a blind window and a T-window.
The rear facade is of secondary importance due to renovation and younger extension.
In the INTERIOR are among others of importance: in the hallway the plastered ceiling with rose; the marble tile floor; the panel doors; the double draught doors with door lights with decorative glazing bars and etched glass, within a wooden frame with frieze and cornice with ornament.
