Inleiding
Het Tweede of Olthofsverlaat werd aangelegd in 1828 tussen het eerste (1789) en het derde verlaat (1819). Evenals de andere schutsluizen is het tweede verlaat in de loop der jaren nogal eens vernieuwd en heeft derhalve een twintigste-eeuws uiterlijk gekregen. Met name zijn de sluiskom en de draaibrug vernieuwd, waarschijnlijk in de jaren twintig of dertig van de twintigste eeuw.
Omschrijving
SCHUTSLUIS met draaibrug. De schutkolk heeft vernieuwde wanden van gewapend beton, waarvan de bovenrand is afgezet met een ijzeren rand; op de rand ijzeren bolders. Tussen beide sluishoofden een paar houten sluisdeuren met leuningen van profielstaal, en rinketten met heugelstang en tandwielkast.
De ongelijkarmige DRAAIBRUG heeft een houten rijvloer op INP hoofd- en tussenliggers. De brugleuningen bestaan uit leuningen, regels en stijlen van hoek- en T-staal. Aan de Kniggestraatkant een later verkorte draaikom met betonnen vloer en gemetselde wanden.

Introduction
The Second or Olthofs Verlaat was constructed in 1828 between the first (1789) and the third verlaat (1819). Like the other lock chambers, the second verlaat has been renewed fairly often over the years and has therefore acquired a twentieth-century appearance. In particular the lock basin and the swing bridge were renewed, probably in the 1920s or 1930s of the twentieth century.
Description
LOCK CHAMBER with swing bridge. The lock basin has renewed walls of reinforced concrete, of which the upper edge is finished with an iron border; on the edge iron bollards. Between both lock gates a pair of wooden lock gates with railings of profile steel, and chains with trunnion bar and gear box.
The unequal-arm SWING BRIDGE has a wooden deck on INP main and intermediate beams. The bridge railings consist of railings, rails and stanchions of angle and T-steel. At the Kniggestraat side a later shortened swing area with concrete floor and masonry walls.
