Inleiding
WOONHUIS van het type dijkwoning uit omstreeks 1860 gebouwd in Traditioneel-Ambachtelijke stijl met elementen uit het Neo-Classicisme. Het pand werd oorspronkelijk bewooond door de fam. A. Volker, directeur van het gelijknamige baggerbedrijf. Toen in 1885 het naastgelegen pand (204) werd opgeleverd kreeg de woning een kantoorfunctie. In 1938 werd het kantoorpand aan de achterzijde met een serre uitgebreid naar ontwerp van de architect Den Boogaard. Momenteel zijn hier de bibliotheek en het archief van het Baggermuseum ondergebracht. Het pand maakt onderdeel uit van de 19e eeuwse bebouwing aan de Molendijk en het complex van voormalig directeurswoningen van de familie Volker. Het pand staat met de nokrichting parallel aan de dijk.
Omschrijving
Het woonhuis is opgetrokken in ijsselsteen en heeft een zadeldak dat is bedekt met gesmoorde kruispannen. De eenlaagse, symmetrisch ingedeelde voorgevel heeft een hardstenen plint en is afgesloten door een eenvoudige, houten kroonlijst. Hardstenen plint. Centraal de ingangspartij bestaande uit een houten paneeldeur met een glas-in-lood bovenlicht gevat in een geprofileerde omlijsting met kroonlijst; aan weerszijden van de deur smalle zijlichten en houten panelen. De achterzijde bestaat uit twee bouwlagen afgesloten door een eenvoudige houten daklijst en geleed door drie vensterassen voorzien van vierruitsvensters onder hanekammen; op de onderverdieping zijn de vierruitsvensters van een groter formaat; hardstenen dorpels.
In de linkerzijgevel een klein ruitvormig kelderraampje en op de verdieping twee vierruitsschuifvensters.
Aan de rechterzijgevel een aanbouw over twee verdiepingen met gepleisterde gevels. In de achtergevel van de aanbouw ter plaatse van de onderverdieping een groot venster; op de verdieping een groot venster met een meerruits bovenlicht.

Het woonhuis is van algemeen belang vanwege de cultuurhistorische waarde als voormalig woonhuis van baggeraarfamilie Volker.

RESIDENTIAL HOUSE of the dyke dwelling type from around 1860 built in Traditional-Craft style with elements from Neo-Classicism. The building was originally occupied by the Volker family, director of the similarly named dredging company. When the adjacent building (204) was delivered in 1885 the dwelling received an office function. In 1938 the office building was extended on the rear side with a conservatory according to a design by architect Den Boogaard. Currently the library and archive of the Dredging Museum are housed here. The building forms part of the 19th-century buildings along the Molendijk and the complex of former directors' residences of the Volker family. The building stands with its ridge direction parallel to the dyke.
Description
The residential house is built of IJssel stone and has a gabled roof covered with smoked Dutch bond pantiles. The single-storey, symmetrically arranged front façade has a stone plinth and is finished with a simple wooden cornice. Stone plinth. Centrally the entrance section consisting of a wooden panelled door with a leaded glass fanlight set in a moulded frame with cornice; on either side of the door narrow side lights and wooden panels. Above the entrance a dormer window in wooden frame. On either side of the entrance two six-pane sash windows with leaded glass fanlights and wooden shutters. Stepped gable copings and stone sills.
The rear side consists of two storeys finished with a simple wooden roof edge and articulated by three window bays provided with four-pane windows under stepped gable copings; on the lower storey the four-pane windows are of a larger size; stone sills.
In the left side façade a small diamond-shaped cellar window and on the first floor two four-pane sash windows.
On the right side façade an extension over two storeys with rendered façades. In the rear façade of the extension at ground floor level a large window; on the first floor a large window with a multi-pane fanlight.
