Omschrijving
Inleiding

Description
Introduction
STOLP FARMHOUSE with extended front house, built in the fourth quarter of the 19th century, after the draining of the Houtrak polder in 1873. The farmhouse is situated on the south side of the Noorderweg, in a part of the polder where the original strip parcellation with north-south oriented main direction is still present. The farmhouse is separated from the road by a front garden. The farmhouse is built in a local building tradition, whereby neo-Renaissance stylistic features can be distinguished in the front house.
Description
Freestanding stolp farmhouse, of which the agricultural section has a rectangular footprint under a barrel-vaulted hipped roof, covered with black Dutch tiles. The ridge line is oriented north-south. The front house is inset on the north side under a gabled roof with black Dutch tiles; the ridge line of the front house is intersected by a square brick chimney. The wooden load-bearing structure of the agricultural section consists of two squares. The farmhouse is built of red and yellow brick, laid in half-brick bond, above a trasraam marked with a roll moulding. The body has a cemented plinth. In the masonry are various wall anchors. The front house is partly cellared.
The front (N) has a projecting front house, the width of three window bays, with on either side a recessed gable section of the body. The facade has brick courses and relieving arches above the windows which are executed in yellow brick. The three window bays each contain a rectangular wooden six-pane sash window with wooden lower threshold and decorative brickwork in the spandrels above the windows. In the roof storey is a segmental-arched window with two pivoting panes and a semi-circular fanlight with radial glazing bars. Below this window is a board with the name "JOHANNA HOEVE" affixed. The emphasis lies on the middle window bay which slightly projects. The front facade is finished with wind braces with cut decorations at the corners. The side facades of the front house contain a narrow sash window. The recessed gable section on the left side of the front house contains a rectangular wooden six-pane sash window and a rectangular wooden door with fanlight. The recessed gable section on the right side of the front house contains a large double carriage door.
The agricultural section (the body) is finished with a wooden gutter on metal clamps. In the roof various ventilation ducts are affixed.
The right side facade (W) has six high-placed segmental-arched iron stable windows with brick lower thresholds. Between the third and fourth window a non-original carriage door is affixed.
The rear facade (S) has on the left a non-original extension. To the right of this the rear facade has a width of five window bays, of which four contain a high-placed segmental-arched iron stable window with brick lower threshold. Between the second and third window bay is a rectangular two-part clamped pedestrian door.
The left side facade (E) has a width of eleven window bays. The first, third and sixth bay from the left contain a two-part clamped pedestrian door with metal hinges. Six window bays contain a high-placed segmental-arched iron stable window with brick lower threshold. The two rightmost bays contain a (renewed) kitchen door and a rectangular wooden six-pane sash window with wooden lower threshold.
Valuation
The stolp farmhouse with extended front house is of general interest from a cultural and architectural-historical perspective as a well-preserved example of agricultural architecture from the fourth quarter of the 19th century in the North Holland countryside, built in a local building tradition. Moreover, the farmhouse has situational value because of its location in the still fairly intact north-south oriented strip parcellation of the Houtrak polder.
