Inleiding
Circa 35 meter ten oosten van de Duinweg gelegen BOLLENSCHUUR uit 1929. De stenen schuur met uitgebouwde houten pakplaats werd ontworpen door de Helderse architect G. de Beurs Gz. Opdrachtgever was de uit Limmen afkomstige bollenkweker G. Kieft die woonde in de naar ontwerp van dezelfde architect vergrote villa aan de overzijde van de Duinweg (nr.18). Naderhand (XXb) is de schuur in oostelijke richting verlengd. Afgezien van de moderne schuifdeur rechts in de zuidgevel is het exterieur sindsdien nauwelijks gewijzigd. Op de ontwerptekening uit februari 1929 zijn de begane grond en eerste verdieping door een dwarsmuur verdeeld in twee ruimten met houten stellingen in de dwarsrichting en een gangpad langs de noordgevel. Deze indeling is nog aanwezig, zij het dat uit de voorste schuurhelft de stellingen zijn verwijderd. De uitbouw links tegen de noordgevel deed blijkens de ontwerptekening dienst als cv-ruimte, kolenbergplaats en (nog steeds) trappenhuis.
Omschrijving
Op rechthoekig grondplan opgetrokken bollenschuur van twee bouwlagen onder een plat dak dat voorzien is van een gering overstek en naar de middenas toe enigszins opgewipt is. De noordgevel heeft links een uitbouw van twee bouwlagen met plat dak en ter hoogte van de begane grond over de volle breedte een houten pakplaats met een nagenoeg rechthoekige plattegrond, een stenen voeting en een plat dak. De buitenmuren zijn gemetseld in rode machinale waalsteen met gesneden voeg. Tot aan de omgaande steens rollaag boven de deuren van de verdieping is het metselwerk uitgevoerd in halfsteens verband en daarboven tot vlak onder het dak in kettingverband waarbij de baksteenkoppen zwartgeverfd zijn. Direct onder het dak is koppenverband toegepast (het aangebouwde oostelijke schuurdeel is tot bovenaan toe uitgevoerd in halfsteens verband). De genoemde uitbouw tegen de noordgevel is geheel gemetseld in kruisverband. Op het dak staat een groot aantal zinken ventilatiekokers met kegelvormige kap. De houten pakplaats is rondom voorzien van gekoppelde zesruits vensters, alleen onderbroken voor een brede dubbele schuifdeur halverwege de noordgevel en een paneeldeur met zesruits raam rechts in dezelfde gevel. De vensters hebben bovenin een tweeruits valraam en zijn evenals alle andere ramen van de schuur sinds de bouw voorzien van draadglas. De noordgevel van de bollenschuur telt op de eerste verdieping vijf paneeldeuren met bovenin een door twee horizontale roeden in drieën gedeeld raam. De uitbouw links is voorzien van drieruits valramen en zesruits vensters als in de pakplaats. Rechtsachter op de uitbouw staat een (verhoogde) vierkante schoorsteen van rode machinale waalsteen in halfsteens verband. In de kopse westgevel bevindt zich links op beide bouwlagen een dichte paneeldeur. Boven de deur op de verdieping hangt een katrol. De oostgevel heeft rechts op de parterre een dichte paneeldeur en op de verdieping twee drieruits valramen.
De symmetrische zuidgevel telt op de begane grond negen (vroeger elf) en op de verdieping elf regelmatig geplaatste paneeldeuren als in de noordgevel.
Het interieur verkeert nog merendeels in de oorspronkelijke staat en bevat onder meer halfsteens binnenmuren van kalkzandsteen, paneeldeuren (zowel schuif- als draaideuren), enkelvoudige zolderbalklagen, en in de noordelijke uitbouw een ruime houten laddertrap met ronde handlijst. In de middelste ruimte (vóór de verlenging was dit de achterste schuurhelft) zijn de bollenstellingen op de verdieping nog geheel en op de begane grond nog gedeeltelijk aanwezig. De houten stellingen bestaan uit vaste bakken met een bodem van gaas. Onder de onderste bakken die voor de opvang van vuil een dichte houten bodem hebben bevinden zich verwarmingsbuizen. In de voormalige pakplaats/pelruimte zijn in de betonnen begane-grondvloer nog de ijzeren rails zichtbaar waarover de van het land komende lorries via de dubbele deur naar binnen werden gereden. Links in deze laagbouw bevindt zich de voormalige veredelingsruimte met glazen zadeldak.
Waardering
Het gebouw is van algemeen belang wegens cultuurhistorische en typologische waarde als grotendeels gaaf bewaard gebleven voorbeeld van een bollenschuur uit de jaren twintig van de twintigste eeuw, illustratief voor de ontwikkeling van de bollencultuur in Noord-Holland.

Approximately 35 metres east of the Duinweg, a BULB STORAGE SHED from 1929. The stone shed with an attached wooden packing place was designed by the Helderse architect G. de Beurs Gz. The client was the bulb grower G. Kieft, originally from Limmen, who lived in the villa on the opposite side of the Duinweg (no. 18), enlarged according to a design by the same architect. Subsequently (second half of 20th century) the shed was extended in an easterly direction. Description
A bulb storage shed built on a rectangular plan with two storeys under a flat roof with minimal overhang that is somewhat pitched towards the middle axis. The north facade has an extension on the left of two storeys with a flat roof and, at ground floor level, across its full width a wooden packing place with an almost rectangular floor plan, a stone base and a flat roof. The external walls are built in red machine-made Dutch bond brick with cut joints. Up to the continuous stone roll moulding above the doors of the storey, the brickwork is executed in Flemish bond and above that up to just under the roof in chain bond with the brick headers painted black. Directly under the roof header bond is applied (the attached eastern shed section is executed entirely in Flemish bond up to the top). The aforementioned extension against the north facade is entirely built in English bond. On the roof stands a large number of zinc ventilation flues with conical caps. The wooden packing place is provided all around with paired six-pane windows, interrupted only by a wide double sliding door halfway along the north facade and a panel door with six-pane window on the right in the same facade. The windows have a two-pane sash window at the top and, like all other windows of the shed since construction, are fitted with wire glass. The north facade of the bulb storage shed has five panel doors on the first storey with a window divided into three parts at the top by two horizontal glazing bars. The extension on the left is provided with three-pane sash windows and six-pane windows as in the packing place. At the rear right of the extension stands a (raised) square chimney of red machine-made Dutch bond brick in Flemish bond. In the gabled east wall there is a sealed panel door on both storeys on the left. Above the door on the storey hangs a pulley. The east facade has a sealed panel door on the ground floor on the right and two three-pane sash windows on the storey.
The symmetrical south facade has nine (formerly eleven) regularly spaced panel doors on the ground floor and eleven on the storey as on the north facade.
The interior is still largely in the original state and contains, among other things, Flemish bond internal walls of calcium silicate brick, panel doors (both sliding and hinged doors), simple ceiling joist layers, and in the northern extension a spacious wooden ladder staircase with round handrail. In the middle room (before the extension this was the rear half of the shed) the bulb shelving on the storey is still entirely present and on the ground floor still partially present. The wooden shelving consists of fixed bins with a wire-mesh bottom. Below the lower bins, which have a solid wooden bottom for collecting dirt, there are heating pipes. In the former packing place/dressing room, the iron rails are still visible in the concrete ground floor through which the lorries coming from the field were wheeled in via the double door. On the left in this low building is the former processing room with glass gabled roof.
Valuation
The building is of general importance for its cultural-historical and typological value as a largely intact example of a bulb storage shed from the nineteen twenties of the twentieth century, illustrative of the development of bulb cultivation in North Holland.
