Inleiding
Smeedijzeren DRAAIBRUG over het kanaal de Dedemsvaart, vervaardigd in 1892 door G.J. Meijer uit Musselkanaal. De aanleg van de vaart was onderdeel van het plan om de uitgestrekte veengebieden tussen Hasselt en Gramsbergen te exploiteren. De vaart had een tweeledig doel: ontwatering van de veengronden en afvoer van turf.
Omschrijving
De linksdraaiende brug is uitgevoerd in smeedijzer, heeft een houten brugdek en rust op hardstenen landhoofden en pijler. Op de pijler rust een dwarsbalk die in verbinding staat met het raderwerk waarop de brug draait. De raderen worden op handkracht met een sleutel in beweging gezet. Op de dwarsbalk staan als vakwerkkolommen uitgevoerde pylonen die de brugligger met behulp van trekstangen dragen. Ook de borstweringen zijn van smeedijzer. De brug draait links om; aan deze zijde van het kanaal staan dukdalven, waar de brug in geopende stand tegen aan staat.

Introduction
Wrought-iron SWING BRIDGE over the canal Dedemsvaart, constructed in 1892 by G.J. Meijer from Musselkanaal. The construction of the canal was part of a plan to exploit the extensive peat areas between Hasselt and Gramsbergen. The canal had a dual purpose: drainage of the peat lands and removal of peat.
Description
The left-swinging bridge is constructed in wrought iron, has a wooden bridge deck and rests on sandstone abutments and a pier. On the pier rests a cross-beam which is connected to the gearing on which the bridge rotates. The gears are set in motion by hand with a key. On the cross-beam stand pylons executed as timber-framed columns which carry the bridge beam by means of tension rods. The parapets are also wrought iron. The bridge swings to the left; on this side of the canal stand dolphin posts, against which the bridge rests in the open position.
