Omschrijving
Omschrijving onderdeel 2: PARKAANLEG.
De hoofdstructuur van de parkaanleg is 18de-eeuws of ouder, bestaande uit: a. oprijlaan met weilanden; b. voorplein; c. achtertuin; d. bospercelen. Ad a.: de oprijlaan, in de as van het huis, begint aan de Zuidwolderweg en loopt oostwaarts in een rechte lijn op het huis af; klinkerbestrating; enkele rijen eik aan weerszijden; via een dam met nieuwe baksteen- muren eindigt de laan op het voorplein. Aan weerszijden van de laan een weiland; in het zuidelijke een duifhuis (zie onderdeel 7). Ad b.: het voorplein wordt aan beide zijden (noord en zuid) geflankeerd door een bouwhuis en aan de oostkant door de brug over de binnengracht naar het huis; tussen de brug en de bouwhuizen staat fraai hekwerk (zie onderdeel 5); de inrichting is nieuw; er staan twee fraaie zonnewijzers (zie onderdeel 9) en nog enkele majestueuze oude linden. Ad c.: de rechthoekige achtertuin, ingesloten door de buitengracht en de oostarm van de binnengracht, heeft een nieuwe inrichting; alleen het achterste gedeelte, nabij het Oude Diep, heeft nog een 19de-eeuws karakter: hier liggen een slingervijver en een ronde kom met enkele oude fruitbomen; alsook een oude schuur (zie onderdeel 8). Langs de zuidelijke grachtarm nog restanten van een oude beukenhaag. Ad d.: ten zuiden en ten noorden van de buitengracht liggen oude bospercelen met restanten van slingerpaden; gemengd naald- en loofhout met veel onderbegroeiing van hulst; de Z-vormige vijver in het noordelijke perceel is van recente datum.
Waardering
PARKAANLEG is van algemeen belang:
- vanwege de ouderdom;
- vanwege de visueel-landschappelijke waarden;
- vanwege de nog vrijwel ongeschonden hoofdstructuur;
- als wezenlijk cultuurhistorisch onderdeel van het complex.

Description of component 2: PARK LAYOUT.
The main structure of the park layout is 18th century or older, consisting of: a. driveway with meadows; b. front courtyard; c. back garden; d. wooded plots.
Re a.: the driveway, in the axis of the house, begins at Zuidwolderweg and runs eastward in a straight line towards the house; brick-paved surface; single rows of oak on both sides; via a dam with new brick walls the drive ends at the front courtyard. On both sides of the drive a meadow; in the southern one a dovecote (see component 7).
Re b.: the front courtyard is flanked on both sides (north and south) by a service building and on the east side by the bridge over the inner canal to the house; between the bridge and the service buildings there is fine metalwork (see component 5); the layout is new; there are two fine sundials (see component 9) and a few more majestic old lime trees.
Re c.: the rectangular back garden, enclosed by the outer canal and the east arm of the inner canal, has a new layout; only the rear part, near the Oude Diep, still has a 19th-century character: here lie a winding pond and a round basin with a few old fruit trees; as well as an old barn (see component 8). Along the southern canal arm still remnants of an old beech hedge.
Re d.: to the south and north of the outer canal lie old wooded plots with remnants of winding paths; mixed coniferous and deciduous timber with much undergrowth of holly; the S-shaped pond in the northern plot is of recent date.

PARK LAYOUT is of general importance:
- because of its age;
- because of its visual-landscape values;
- because of its still largely intact main structure;
- as an essential cultural-historical component of the complex.
