Inleiding
De MUUR met TOEGANGSHEK die behoren bij de voormalige Roomskatholieke Lagere School, ligt aan de Midstrjitte, tussen nrs. 49 en 53. Het "poortjesachtige" hek geeft toegang tot de steeg die naar de ingang van de school leidt. De muur flankeert de steeg en omsluit vervolgens het schoolplein. Ten oosten van het schoolperceel sluit de muur aan op het perceel Iewal 10. Muur en toegangshek zijn tegelijk met het schoolgebouw ontworpen (1923) en zijn uitgevoerd in de stijl van de Amsterdamse School. Zij verkeren nog in originele staat.
Omschrijving
De muur en het toegangshek zijn in bruine baksteen opgetrokken. Het metselwerk wordt onder meer verlevendigd door een bijzonder metselverband, door het uitspringen van de muur in pilasterachtige delen die rusten op een even uitstekend gemetseld basement. Het toegangshek bestaat uit een onderste smeedijzeren deel met eenvoudige dunne spijlen. Aan de Midstrjitte wordt het hek aan de boven- en zijkanten versierd door een poortachtige gemetselde omlijsting in dezelfde bruine baksteen.
Waardering
De muur met toegangshek, behorend bij het complex van de voormalige Roomskatholieke Lagere School aan de Midstrjitte 45 te Woudsend, zijn van algemeen cultuurhistorisch belang:
- vanwege het sobere, maar esthetisch kwalitatief goed ontwerp;
- als essentieel onderdeel van een groter geheel dat cultuurhistorisch en architectuurhistorisch van nationaal belang is;

Introduction
The WALL with GATEWAY which belong to the former Roman Catholic Elementary School is located on the Midstrjitte, between nos. 49 and 53. The "gate-like" gateway gives access to the alley which leads to the entrance of the school. The wall flanks the alley and subsequently encloses the school square. To the east of the school plot the wall adjoins plot Iewal 10. Wall and gateway were designed together with the school building (1923) and are executed in the style of the Amsterdam School. They are still in original condition.
Description
The wall and the gateway are constructed of brown brick. The brickwork is enlivened among other things by a particular bonding pattern, by the projection of the wall in pilaster-like sections which rest on an equally protruding mortared basement. The gateway consists of a lower wrought-iron part with simple thin bars. On the Midstrjitte the gate is decorated on the top and sides by a gate-like mortared surround in the same brown brick.

The wall with gateway, belonging to the complex of the former Roman Catholic Elementary School at Midstrjitte 45 at Woudsend, are of general cultural-historical importance:
