Inleiding
Dit bijzonder gaaf bewaarde GRAFMONUMENT van de familie Von der Haar bevindt zich op de aan de noordzijde van de Deken Reuvekamplaan gelegen R.K. begraafplaats. De begraafplaats heeft een zeer eenvoudige aanleg en bezit ondermeer nog een voormalig kathechesatiegebouwtje, diverse priestergraven en een Neo-Gotisch kapelletje waarop de bescherming van rijkswege niet van toepassing is.
Het grafmonument is uitgevoerd onder invloed van de Art Décostijl, dateert waarschijnlijk uit 1923 en heeft een voor de aanlegtijd relatief bijzondere en zeldzame opzet, detaillering, materiaalgebruik en stijl.
Het geheel is opgebouwd uit een opeenstapeling van geometrische elementen. De belettering sluit bij deze stijl aan. Het steenwerk is waarschijnlijk uitgevoerd door de Steenhouwerij Pas uit Arnhem. De bronzen plaquettes in de trant van Jan Toorop zijn waarschijnlijk vervaardigd door de beeldend kunstenaar Norga. De gegevens over de steenhouwerij en de betrokken kunstenaar zijn gebaseerd op het in de publicatie van A.J. van Dissel beschreven ten dele identieke grafmonument van de familie Vale op de begraafplaats MOSCOWA in Arnhem.
Omschrijving
Het GRAFMONUMENT bestaat uit drie rechthoekige, liggende hardstenen kistachtige, stenen met inscriptie geplaatst op dito uitkragende banden. Achter de stenen bevindt zich een driedelige harstenen wand. Het midden paneel, waarop zich een in brons opgelegde inscriptie bevindt, wordt aan weerszijden geflankeerd door naar boven doorgestoken stijlen, die aan de bovenzijde een in lagen opgebouwd Latijns kruis met christusfiguur flankeren. Op de lage zijpanelen bevinden zich aan elkaar spiegelbeeldige bronzen reliëfs met biddende vrouwen (ontwerp J. Norga?). Introduction
This exceptionally well-preserved GRAVE MONUMENT of the Von der Haar family is situated on the Roman Catholic cemetery located on the north side of Deken Reuvekamplaan. The cemetery has a very simple layout and possesses among other things a former catechism building, various priests' graves and a Neo-Gothic chapel to which the protection by the State does not apply.
The grave monument was executed under the influence of the Art Deco style, dates probably from 1923 and has a relatively special and rare design, detailing, use of materials and style for the period of its creation.
The whole is constructed from a stacking of geometric elements. The lettering is consistent with this style. The stonework was probably executed by the Steenhouwerij Pas from Arnhem. The bronze plaques in the manner of Jan Toorop were probably created by the artist Norga. The information about the stonemasonry and the involved artist is based on the partially identical grave monument of the Vale family described in the publication by A.J. van Dissel on the MOSCOWA cemetery in Arnhem.
Description
The GRAVE MONUMENT consists of three rectangular, recumbent hardstone coffin-like stones with inscription placed on likewise cantilevered bands. Behind the stones is a tripartite hardstone wall. The central panel, on which a bronze-applied inscription is located, is flanked on both sides by upright stiles, which at the top flank a Latin cross built up in layers with a Christ figure. On the low side panels are bronze reliefs mirroring each other with praying women (design J. Norga?).
