Inleiding
Voormalige kamerwoning met werkplaatsje uit de tweede helft van de 18de eeuw, oorspronkelijk deel uitmakend van een reeks van acht kamerwoningen aan de noordzijde van het Peter de Gekstraatje, een zijsteeg van de Orthenstraat, dat deels nog bestraat is met keitjes.
Omschrijving
Het rechterdeel van de rechthoekige plattegrond bevat de kamerwoning, het linker het werkplaatsje. De gevels zijn opgetrokken in deels gepleisterde baksteen (IJsselformaat), het zadeldak is aan de linkerzijde afgewolfd, belegd met oud-Hollandse pannen (rood en zwart) en heeft een gemetseld rookkanaal. De voorgevel van de kamerwoning heeft een negen-ruits schuifvenster en een toegangsdeur met bovenlicht; zij- en achtergevel zijn blind. Inwendig is de kamerwoning voorzien van o.a. een stookplaatsje met houten schoorsteenmantel, links tegen de achtergevel een voormalige bedstede met gemetselde rechter zijwand, houten steektrap naar zolder, enkelvoudige zolderbalklaag, onbeschoten zolder met eenvoudige schaarspanten. De indeling van het werkplaatsje is gespiegeld aan die van de kamerwoning, want oorspronkelijk ook kamerwoning maar verbouwd, heeft in de voorgevel een negen-ruits schuifvenster, twee kleinere vensters uit de 19de eeuw op de plaats van de deur, een secundair geplaatste deur. De linker zijgevel is ingedeeld met schuifvenster en deur alsook met twee kleine zoldervensters uit de eerste helft van de 19de eeuw. Inwendig is het werkplaatsje voorzien van o.a. restanten van een oud secreet/beerput, houten steektrap naar zolder, enkelvoudige balklaag, eenvoudige schaarspanten.
Waardering
De voormalige kamerwoning met werkplaatsje uit de tweede helft van de 18de eeuw vertegenwoordigt algemeen belang op basis van: - de ouderdom; - de zeldzaamheid t.w. als bouwkundige proeve van de geschiedenis van het wonen, meer in het bijzonder van handwerkslieden; - de afleesbare en de te ervaren twee-eenheid van wonen en werken onder één dak, zijnde een markant voorbeeld van historische leef- en arbeidsomstandigheden; - de gaafheid van hoofdvorm, constructie, indeling, materiaalgebruik en detaillering; - de situering binnen het beschermde stadsgezicht van 's-Hertogenbosch waarin de laat-middeleeuwse structuur van hoofdstraten, zijstegen en diepe, smalle percelen tastbaar aanwezig is.

Introduction
Former room dwelling with small workshop from the second half of the 18th century, originally forming part of a row of eight room dwellings on the north side of Peter de Gekstraatje, a side alley of the Orthenstraat, which is still partly paved with stone setts.
Description
The right part of the rectangular ground plan contains the room dwelling, the left part the workshop. The facades are built of partly plastered brickwork (IJsselformaat), the gabled roof is half-hipped on the left side, covered with old Dutch tiles (red and black) and has a brick chimney. The front facade of the room dwelling has a nine-pane sash window and an entrance door with fanlight; the side and rear facades are blind. Internally the room dwelling is equipped with, amongst other things, a small stove with wooden chimney mantel, a former bed alcove on the left against the rear facade with brick right sidewall, wooden loft ladder, simple joist layer, unboarded loft with simple roof truss structure. The layout of the workshop mirrors that of the room dwelling, as it was also originally a room dwelling but has been converted, has a nine-pane sash window in the front facade, two smaller windows from the 19th century in place of the door, a secondarily placed door. The left side facade is arranged with sash window and door as well as two small loft windows from the first half of the 19th century. Internally the workshop is equipped with, amongst other things, remains of an old toilet/cesspit, wooden loft ladder, simple joist layer, simple roof truss structure.
Valuation
The former room dwelling with workshop from the second half of the 18th century is of general interest on the basis of: - its age; - its rarity, namely as a building example of the history of dwelling, more particularly of craftsmen; - the legible and experiential dual unity of living and working under one roof, being a notable example of historical living and working conditions; - the integrity of main form, construction, layout, material use and detailing; - its location within the protected townscape of 's-Hertogenbosch in which the late medieval structure of main streets, side alleys and deep, narrow plots is tangibly present.
