Inleiding
In de polder Groot Mijdrecht werd in 1889 een houten, dubbele ARBEIDERSWONING gebouwd in opdracht van Rijer Spaans, landbouwer te Barsingerhorn. De bouwstijl vertoont qua kleur- en materiaalgebruik verwantschap met het Noord-Hollandse, Broeker houtbouwtype. De houten pionierswoning is kenmerkend voor de ontginnings- en agrarische geschiedenis van de polder en hoorde oorspronkelijk bij de boerderij Industrieweg 30, eveneens een pand met Noord-Hollandse invloeden.
Omschrijving
Evenwijdig aan de Industrieweg gelegen dubbele arbeiderswoning, die hoofdzakelijk is opgetrokken uit houten rabatdelen. Het pand telt één bouwlaag op een langgerekte, rechthoekige plattegrond. De houten gevels zijn zeegroen geschilderd. De dakbedekking van het zadeldak bestaat uit gesmoorde Hollandse pannen. In het midden van de nok is een schoorsteen gezet.
De voorgevel of noordgevel bevat links en rechts een deur met ruit en bovenlicht en hiertussen twee schuifvensters.
Tegen de rechter- en linkerzijgevel zijn aanbouwtjes onder lessenaardak gezet. De topgevels bestaan hier uit verticale houten delen en zijn elk voorzien van een luik met bovenlicht.
De achter- of zuidgevel is - als enige - opgetrokken in steen.
Het interieur bevat een aantal bedsteedeuren voor de bedsteekasten, die zich aan de zuidzijde van het huis bevinden.

De dubbele houten arbeiderswoning is van algemeen belang vanwege architectuurhistorische waarde door de houten constructie en de gaafheid van dit type woonhuis, vanwege cultuurhistorische waarde in verband met de ontginningsgeschiedenis van het gebied en zeldzaamheid en vanwege ensemblewaarde in relatie tot de ernaast gelegen boerderij.
