Inleiding
In 1897 als KANTOORGEBOUW annex WINKELPAND voor de levensverzekerings- maatschappij Kosmos gebouwd pand, naar ontwerp van architect P.J. Houtzagers, gesitueerd op de hoek van de Choorstraat en de Stadhuisbrug, in 1926 van nieuwe puien voorzien naar ontwerp van Van Hassel. Aan de grachtzijde werfkelders.
Omschrijving
Pand op rechthoekige plattegrond met werfkelders, drie bouwlagen en kap met plat en drie schilden met steekkappen, gelegen op de kop van de Stadhuisbrug en tussen Choorstraat en Oudegracht. Geheel in baksteen, kunststeen en natuursteen opgetrokken pand met drie gevelfronten, alle gevels met in- en uitspringende vlakken, waaronder overhoeks ingesneden vensters en vele uitstekende ornamenten. Diverse symbolische ornamenten, met onder meer boven de vensters driehoekige beëindigingen met tekens van de dierenriem, voorts verschillende dieren, alles binnen het thema "kosmos" en associaties met leven en sterven. Gevel aan Stadhuisbrug met verhoogde topgevel met nissen en meerdere kunststenen decoratieve elementen, waaronder een pauw als symbool voor onsterflijkheid als bekroning. Aan de Oudegrachtzijde heeft de gevel onder meer een risaliet met daarin op begane grond niveau een opvallend stenen kruiskozijn. Voorts onder meer diverse grote en kleine vensterpartijen. Op de hoek van de Stadhuisbrug en de Choorstraat een winkelpui uit 1926 naar ontwerp van architect Van Hassel uitgevoerd in hout, brons en natuursteen met afgeronde hoeken en een inpandige ingang aan de Choorstraatzijde.

Building on a rectangular plan with yard cellars, three storeys and roof with flat section and three hipped sections with dormer gables, located at the head of the Stadhuisbrug and between Choorstraat and Oudegracht.
