Inleiding
WOONHUIS van 17de eeuwse oorsprong, rond 1900 verbouwd tot woon- WINKELpand en in 1919 ten behoeve van eigenaar C.L.J. Begeer voorzien van winkelpui in art-deco stijl met afrikaanse invloeden, naar ontwerp van G.Th. Rietveld.
Omschrijving
Onderkelderd pand, met voorhuis en achterhuis, waarbij de naastgelegen steeg in de bouwmassa is opgenomen. Het voorste deel van het pand heeft drie bouwlagen en een mansarde schilddak waarin een moderne dakkapel is opgenomen. Het achterhuis heeft een souterrain, twee bouwlagen en een zadeldak.
De vier vensterassen tellende, horizontaal in tweeën gedeelde voorgevel bestaat uit in natuursteen uitgevoerde begane grond en een gepleisterde tweede en derde bouwlaag In natuursteen uitgevoerde pui met drie traveeën, waarvan geheel rechts de verdiept liggende ingang. Op plint twee maal onder de vensters het woord "juwelier" , daarboven de vierkante etalagevensters met afgeronde hoeken, brede penanten tussen de vensters en aan weerszijden van de ingang, alle met art-deco beelden en sierranden binnen het vlak van de gevel aangebracht. De verdiepingen tellen vier traveeën met schuiframen. De daklijst wordt ondersteund door gekoppelde consolen.
In de panden diverse oudere onderdelen, onder meer twee 17de eeuwse spiltrappen met uitgestoken leuning.
Waardering
Winkelwoonhuis van algemeen belang vanwege de architectuurhistorische waarde als voorbeeld van art-deco met oosterse invloeden en tevens als vroeg voorbeeld van het werk van G. Th. Rietveld. Van cultuurhistorische en bouwhistorische waarde als voorbeeld van een ouder woonhuis dat tot woonwinkelpand is verbouwd.

Description
Undercellared building, with front house and rear house, whereby the adjacent alley is incorporated into the building mass. The front part of the building has three storeys and a mansard hipped roof in which a modern roof dormer is incorporated. The rear house has a basement, two storeys and a gabled roof.
The front facade comprising four window axes, horizontally divided in two, consists of ground floor executed in natural stone and a plastered second and third storey. Shop front executed in natural stone with three bays, of which the entrance situated at the far right. On plint twice below the windows the word "jeweller", above this the square display windows with rounded corners, wide pilasters between the windows and on either side of the entrance, all with art-deco figures and decorative borders placed within the plane of the facade. The upper floors comprise four bays with sash windows. The roof edge is supported by coupled consoles.
In the buildings various older components, including two 17th-century spiral staircases with projecting handrails.
Valuation
Shop-dwelling of general importance because of the architectural-historical value as an example of art-deco with eastern influences and also as an early example of the work of G. Th. Rietveld. Of cultural-historical and building-historical value as an example of an older dwelling house converted into a shop-dwelling.
