Inleiding
In 1935 werd in de pastorietuin van de St. Nicolaaskerk (apart monumentnummer 13252) een kopie gebouwd van de bedevaartsgrot te Lourdes. De LOURDESGROT werd gebouwd door Huite Huitema, een boerenzoon met een handicap, die in 1933 na een pelgrimage naar Lourdes genezen huiswaarts keerde. De replica vervaardigde hij met de hulp van de plaatselijke timmerman en enkele knechten.
Omschrijving
De grot is een kopie op ware grootte van de grot te Lourdes. Het bouwsel van 12 bij 8 meter met een hoogte van 7 meter is dubbelwandig en vervaardigd van gewapend beton. Rechtsboven in een nis bevindt zich het beeld van Maria. Onder de nis is in de betonstructuur een bloembak gecreëerd. Voor de grot staat een smeedijzeren hek met Latijnse kruisen op de hoofdstijlen.
De grot heeft een dekvloer van cement en in de zijwanden twee kaarsnissen. In de grot staat een beeld van de geknielde Bernadette, aan wie Maria in Lourdes was verschenen.

Introduction
In 1935 a copy of the pilgrimage grotto at Lourdes was built in the rectory garden of the St. Nicolaaskerk (separate national monument number 13252). The LOURDES GROTTO was built by Huite Huitema, a farmer's son with a disability, who in 1933 returned home cured after a pilgrimage to Lourdes. He manufactured the replica with the help of the local carpenter and several labourers.

The grotto is a full-scale copy of the grotto at Lourdes. The structure measuring 12 by 8 meters with a height of 7 meters is double-walled and manufactured from reinforced concrete.
