Description MAIN BUILDING (1) The house on a rectangular ground plan consists of a basement, a bel-étage and a half-storey at the front. The house is entirely built of yellow ijssel stone. Both side facades and the rear facade are still 17th-century. The high hipped roof is crowned by two chimneys. The six-bay wide late 18th-century front facade is terminated by a substantial cornice. The broad central risalit encompasses the four central bays and the facade is terminated with side risalits. The shuttered windows have 19th-century glazed windows with glazing bars. The front door is framed with pilasters and an entablature in which a fanlight is incorporated. The front door is decorated with wood carving and a cow's head. In front of it lies a sandstone step and stair with iron balustrade and lanterns. On the rear side it is clear that the upper storey is missing here and the roof continues lower. Here too the shutters at the windows and 19th-century glazed windows on the bel-étage. In the left side facade, windows have been introduced over four bays in the 19th century, while the right side facade has a much more enclosed character with only three original windows remaining. In the interior a mixture of 17th-, 18th- and 19th-century finishes and details is encountered. Important are, among others, the panelled doors painted on both sides, on one side with a trompe-l'oeil of a balustrade with flowers and birds, on the other side with human figures. It is assumed that these come from the interior before the fire of 1660 (dated by the tulips depicted in the image) and were located in a corridor. Further, parts of a 17th-century fireplace with carved pilasters and a painted coat of arms on the cornice on the bel-étage, and a second fireplace with coat of arms on the upper storey. The large fireplace, dated 1742 and signed J. Keller in the great room on the bel-étage at the front, was brought here and originates from a house in The Hague.
