Inleiding
Het voormalige GEMEENTEHUIS van Diepenheim is in 1881 - naar ontwerpen van de Goorse architect Meyer - in eclectische stijl gebouwd. Het pand ligt midden in het centrum van de stad. Vanaf de jaren tachtig van deze eeuw heeft het dienst gedaan als onderkomen van de plaatselijke galerie, later is het de zetel van architectenbureau ten Dam.
Omschrijving
Vanuit een rechthoekige plattegrond opgetrokken, wit gepleisterd, verdiepingloos pand op een grijze plint. Het afgeknotte schilddak is gedekt met grijze muldenpannen.
Symmetrische voorgevel (Z) met verhoogd middenrisaliet. Centrale entree in een rondboogportiek met profielomlijsting. Daarboven het gemeentewapen en een ronde wijzerplaat. Het bovenste deel van de risaliet wordt omlijst door lisenen met imposten en is aan de bovenzijde versierd met een rondboogfries. Een torentje van rondbogen met een naald vormt de bekroning.
Aan beide zijden van de ingang twee zesruits rondboogvensters met radiale roedenverdeling in de bovenlichten. Onder de vensters is een geprofileerde versiering aangebracht. Aan de bovenzijde worden de vensters met elkaar verbonden door een profiellijst. Onder de dakrand is in relief een brede lijst aangebracht die uit twee lagen bestaat: onder een boogfries, boven een fries van triglyfen en metopen. Dit lijstwerk wordt aan de westgevel voortgezet.
In de linker zijgevel (W) drie rondboogvensters, in de rechter zijgevel (O) twee met daarnaast een occulus.
Het voormalige gemeentehuis is vóór een bestaand pand geplaatst dat bestaat uit één bouwlaag met een overwelfde kelder en een met rode Hollandse pannen gedekt schilddak. Dit is aan de rechter zijde nog te zien: het gepleisterde deel gaat over in een uitkragende rode bakstenen muur met een schuifraam. De dakrand van dit deel is lager.
In de toren van het gebouw twee klokken, XVIII en 1819 (Gerrit Schimmel).
Waardering
Voormalig gemeentehuis van cultuur-, architectuurhistorisch en stedenbouwkundig belang vanwege:

The former TOWN HALL of Diepenheim was built in 1881 - according to designs by the Gouda architect Meyer - in eclectic style. The building is located in the very centre of the town. From the nineteen-eighties of this century it has served as home of the local gallery, later it became the seat of the architectural office ten Dam.
Description
Built from a rectangular ground plan, white rendered, single-storey building on a grey plinth. The truncated hipped roof is covered with grey pan tiles.
Symmetrical front facade (S) with raised central projection. Central entrance in a round-arched portico with moulded surround. Above it the municipal coat of arms and a round clock face. The upper part of the projection is framed by pilaster strips with imposts and is decorated at the top with a round-arched frieze. A small tower of round arches with a spire forms the crown.
On either side of the entrance two six-pane round-arched windows with radial glazing bars in the fanlights. Below the windows a profiled decoration is applied. At the top the windows are connected to each other by a moulded line. Below the roof edge a broad relief band is applied consisting of two layers: below a round-arched frieze, above a frieze of triglyphs and metopes. This moulding is continued on the west facade.
In the left side facade (W) three round-arched windows, in the right side facade (E) two with next to them an oculus.
The former town hall is placed in front of an existing building consisting of one storey with a vaulted cellar and a hipped roof covered with red Dutch tiles. This is still visible on the right side: the rendered section merges into a corbelled red brick wall with a sash window. The roof edge of this section is lower.
In the tower of the building two bells, 18th century and 1819 (Gerrit Schimmel).
