Omschrijving onderdeel 7: POORTGEBOUW.
De toegang tot het voorplein wordt gemarkeerd door een in oorsprong middeleeuws poortgebouw, dat in 1830 door J.D. Zocher jr. in neogotische stijl is verbouwd en zijn huidige blokvormige aanzien verkreeg. In 1975 is het gebouw gerestaureerd en verbouwd tot woning. Het bakstenen gebouwtje wordt gedekt door een laag schilddak met de nok haaks op de poortdoorgang en kantelen boven de gootlijst. Op de hoeken van het middeleeuwse gedeelte resten van overkraagde hoektorentjes. die in 1728 nog een boogfries insloten. De excentrisch geplaatste, getoogde doorgang met balkenzoldering heeft aan één zijde een spitsboogvenster. Boven de doorgang in de zuidgevel bevindt zich een hardstenen wapensteen met wapen van Verstolk, en onder het venster rechts daarvan is een l4de-eeuws hardstenen doopvont ingemetseld, thans dienstdoende als bloembak. De gevel aan de pleinzijde heeft een uitgemetselde waterlijst en vlieggaten.

Description
Description component 7: GATE BUILDING.
The access to the forecourt is marked by a gate building of medieval origin, which was altered in neogothic style in 1830 by J.D. Zocher jr. and acquired its present cubic appearance. In 1975 the building was restored and converted into a dwelling. The brick building is covered by a low hipped roof with the ridge perpendicular to the gate passage and crenellations above the gutter line. On the corners of the medieval section remain traces of overhanging turrets, which still enclosed an arch frieze in 1728. The eccentrically placed arched passage with beam ceiling has a lancet window on one side. Above the passage in the south façade is located a sandstone coat of arms stone with the arms of Verstolk, and below the window to the right of it is embedded a 14th-century sandstone font, now serving as a flower trough. The façade on the square side has a projecting drip moulding and ventilation holes.
