Omschrijving
Inleiding
In opdracht van het gas- en drinkwaterbedrijf Enschede werd dit POMPGEBOUW -met een voor de interbellum-architectuur karakteristieke vormgeving- in 1935 gebouwd.
Voor het verkrijgen van drinkwater maakt het Waterleidingbedrijf Overijssel gebruik van grondwater dat in pompstations opgepompt wordt. Deze pompstations zijn gelegen in zogenaamde grondwater beschermgebieden.
Naast het pompstation staat een daarbij behorende woning die voor de bescherming van ondergeschikt belang is.
Omschrijving
Verdiepingloos pand van rode machinale baksteen onder een met rode verbeterde Hollandse pannen gedekt schilddak.
De zijgevels hebben beide een smalle dwarsgeplaatste uitbouw onder een steekkap.
Het pand heeft een symmetrische voorgevel (Z) met in het midden de entree onder een drieruits bovenlicht en een betonnen luifel. Aan weerszijden daarvan zijn twee negenruits vensters geplaatst. In de geveltop bevindt zich een rond stalen venster met radiale roedenverdeling. De identieke zijgevels zijn voorzien van zeven smalle drieruits vensters (horizontale roedenverdeling) en een stalen deur met bovenlicht. De uitbouw is eveneens van een stalen deur voorzien en heeft bovendien twee smalle vensters met glas-in-lood aan de zuidzijde van de uitbouw.
De achtergevel (N) heeft een driehoekige vensterpartij die bestaat uit zeven vensters met een horizontale roedenverdeling. Het middelste venster bestaat uit negen ramen, de flankerende drie vensters worden steeds twee ramen korter.
Waardering
Dit pompgebouw is van algemeen architectuurhistorisch belang:

On the commission of the gas and drinking water company Enschede this PUMP BUILDING -with a design characteristic of interwar-period architecture- was constructed in 1935.
For the procurement of drinking water the Water Supply Company Overijssel makes use of groundwater that is pumped up in pump stations. These pump stations are located in so-called groundwater protection areas.
Adjacent to the pump station stands a house belonging to it, which is of subordinate importance for the protection.
Description
Single-storey building of red machine-made brick under a hipped roof covered with red improved Dutch tiles.
The side facades both have a narrow transversely-placed extension under a pitched roof.
The building has a symmetrical front facade (S) with the entrance in the middle under a three-pane fanlight and a concrete canopy. On either side of this are two nine-pane windows. In the gable top is a round steel window with radial glazing bars. The identical side facades are provided with seven narrow three-pane windows (horizontal glazing bars) and a steel door with fanlight. The extension is likewise provided with a steel door and also has two narrow windows with leaded glass on the south side of the extension.
The rear facade (N) has a triangular window arrangement consisting of seven windows with horizontal glazing bars. The middle window consists of nine panes, the flanking three windows become two panes shorter in succession.
