Inleiding
In 1880 in eclectische trant gebouwde DUBBELE VILLA.

Description
Introduction
In 1880 a DOUBLE VILLA was built in eclectic style. The villa, located on the south side of the Florapark, was designed by architect A.J. van Beek on behalf of jonkheer Quirin Hoeufft. The double villa was later converted into one large villa and is currently (1993) used as office space.
The Florapark was designed in 1873 by L.P. Zocher and formed part of a plan for the development and construction of the Hazepatersveld. The Hazepatersveld was a meadow, located between the Dreef, Hazepaterslaan and Wagenweg, which shortly before 1873 had been purchased by the municipality of Haarlem from the Mennonite community. The municipality of Haarlem intended to transform the meadow into a villa park and commissioned the company of L.P. Zocher's father, J.D. Zocher & Co., to design a plan for the development and construction of the Hazepatersveld.
In this development plan, which was completed in 1873, a contrast is visible between on the one hand the formal, urban layout as envisioned at the Floraplein and the Dreef and on the other hand the landscape layout of the Florapark and part of the Hazepaterslaan.
In total, 50 residential houses were projected in the plan. In the final execution, however, 56 would be realized, resulting in a certain densification of the original design.
First, the urban-looking eclectic development along the Floraplein was built (1876-77), followed by the Neo-Renaissance residential blocks along the Dreef (1880 and 1882). The Florapark and the western part of the Hazepaterslaan were only built up in the period after 1880, after the park layout, designed in English landscape style, had been completed.
In the Florapark, eight detached villas and three double villas were built in the period 1880-1892. One of these villas, located at the corner with the Wagenweg, was demolished in 1939 and replaced by a school. The remaining villas, however, are still present in the park and are for the most part still in original condition. The park layout and the plot division (no densification of the plots has taken place) are also largely original. Through this, the Florapark has retained its appearance as a villa park.
The boundary fences between the public road and the plots at the Florapark, Dreef and Hazepaterslaan were designed in a uniform style when the villa park was laid out. These original boundary fences are still present at all properties, whether or not partly rebuilt.
Description
Direct abutting the street, originally a double villa consisting of basement, principal storey, first floor and attic storey. The property is built on a fundamentally rectangular ground plan and is covered by a truncated hipped roof clad with grey shingles. The property is constructed in red brick on a rusticated plinth of natural stone. The facades of the property are richly decorated all around with mainly natural stone detailing. Between the principal storey and the first floor runs a continuous broad natural stone cornice band, and various continuous horizontal natural stone bands are applied over the facades. Around the windows and doors, too, much natural stone detailing has been applied, particularly in such areas as the window recesses and window sills. Below the windows, in some places a mosaic of yellow, black and blue tiles has been applied as decoration. Along the top of the facades is a partly wooden gutter list running all around, carried by wooden consoles. The fields between the consoles are decorated with tiles and plasterwork.
The facades of the property contain all around, among others, sash windows, T-sash windows, casement windows, fixed windows and French doors opening onto balconies, all executed in wood in various sizes and forms. A number of windows are coupled in pairs. In the front facade (northwest) there are two entrances with wooden panelled doors. The right entrance is covered by a balcony carried by, among others, a natural stone column. This entrance is accessible by means of a natural stone staircase comprising three treads.
In the front facade, the third window axis from the right is carried through the roofline and is closed off by a truncated tent roof with inswinging roof panels clad with grey shingles. In three of the four roof panels there is a small triangular roof dormer. On the right side of the front facade, there is, in a chamfered corner, a bay window at the height of the basement and principal storey. This bay window, located at the corner with the southwest facade, is closed off by a balcony. On the left side of the front facade, there is, at the height of the first floor, a diagonal round corner bay which is closed off by a round pointed roof clad with grey shingles.
In both the left (northeast) and right (southwest) side facades, there is at the height of the basement and principal storey a somewhat projecting brick bay window that is covered by a balcony. In the northeast facade there is also a balcony at the height of the principal storey.
The interior of the property has been partly altered and the original garden around the villa has been largely converted into a car park.
On the left and right side of the property, along the street side, the original boundary fence is still partly present. This boundary fence consists of a low brick wall topped by a hardstone plinth, with wrought-iron ornamental fencing above it.
Valuation
Well-preserved villa with associated boundary fence of general importance due to architectural-historical and cultural-historical value, as well as due to ensemble value as part of the villa development in the Florapark, which is valuable due to its landscape layout.
