Inleiding
VILLA, gebouwd in 1938 in opdracht van Keulen Boex naar ontwerp van architect W. van de Ven. De stijl behoort tot de Nieuwe Zakelijkheid. Rond 1955 heeft er een verbouwing plaatsgevonden.
Omschrijving
De tweelaagse villa heeft een samengestelde L-vormige plattegrond en een plat dak met overstek op houten consoles. De gevels zijn opgetrokken uit groot formaat rode baksteen die boven de plint gepleisterd is en wit geschilderd.
De voorgevel heeft ter linkerzijde een bandvenster met stalen kozijnen onder een stalen railconstructie die als luifel dient. Bij dit woonkamergedeelte ook een rond licht. Rechts een paneeldeur onder een betonnen luifel. De uitkragende houten gootlijst van het dak rust op consoles.
De achtergevel heeft een L-vormige plattegrond, waarbij de linkervleugel op de begane grond is afgerond. Op de ene hoek is een laag drieruits raam, op de andere hoek een rond vierruits venster. In een diep en breed rechthoekig portiek is een reeks terrasdeuren met bovenlicht geplaatst. Hierboven bevindt zich terras met stalen rondbuis balustrade. Het terras wordt op de linkerhoek afgeschermd door een wand met vensters en een luifel, rustend op een kolom.
Het interieur bevat een trappenhuis, verlicht door een raam met figuratief glas-in-lood. De wanden zijn alle glad gepleisterd. De woonkamer is als splitlevel uitgevoerd en bevat een oorspronkelijke lage L-vormige kast.
Waardering
De villa is van algemeen belang. Het pand heeft cultuurhistorische waarde als voorbeeld van de geografische en sociaal-economische ontwikkeling van Helmond als industriestad, met name het ontstaan van villa's in de de groene omgeving van een villa park. The terrace is screened at the left corner by a wall with windows and a canopy, resting on a column.
The interior contains a stairwell, lit by a window with figurative stained glass. The walls are all smooth plastered. The living room is executed as a split level and contains an original low L-shaped cupboard.
