Inleiding
HOOFGEBOUW, onderdeel uitmakend van het voormalige gemeentelijke zwembadcomplex te Weesp, gebouwd in 1937 in expressionistische bouwtrant.
In oorsprong was de eerste verdieping van het gebouw in gebruik als dienstwoning en waren de vleugels van het hoofdgebouw aan de waterkant open ten behoeve van de badhokjes.
Omschrijving
Het symmetrisch opgebouwde hoofdgebouw heeft een licht geknikt grondplan, bestaande uit een breder middendeel, geflankeerd door smallere vleugels. De hoofdentree bevindt zich op de symmetrie-as, die tevens het kknikpunt voor de plattegrond vormt. Het pand heeft een middenpartij ter hoogte van twee bouwlagen, de vleugels hebben een hoogte van één bouwlaag. Het pand wordt afgesloten door een houten dakoverstek en een hoog glooiend rieten schilddak dat golvend over middenpartij en vleugels is gelegd. Op de nok zijn rood gesmoorde rietvorsten aangebracht. Op de centrale nokhoek staat een rechthoekige bakstenen schoorsteen. De lengterichting van het pand loopt vrijwel evenwijdig aan de Utrechtseweg. Het pand is opgetrokken in brede horizontale gepotdekselde delen boven een betonnen voeting.
De symmetrisch ingedeelde voorgevel (ZW) heeft zowel op de begane grond als op de eerste verdieping lange lintvensters met houten kozijnen, waarbij de vensters op de begane grond een geringe hoogte hebben en als bovenlichten doorlopen in de vleugels aan weerszijden van de entree. De nadruk ligt op de uitzwenkende middenas die op de begane grond en in het dakschild verbijzonderd is. Op de begane grond bevindt zich aan weerszijden van de middenas een houten paneeldeur met glaspanelen en roedenverdeling. In het dak is op de middenas een halfrond-gesloten dakkapel met halfrond venster aangebracht.
De rechterzijgevel (ZO) heeft een hooggeplaatst rechthoekig bovenlicht onder de dakrand.
Ook bij de symmetrisch ingedeelde achtergevel (NO) ligt de nadruk op de - eveneens uitzenkende - middenas van de middenpartij: op de begane grond bevindt zich een zelfde entree als in de voorgevel, ditmaal echter geplaatst in een portaal met zijlichten in de zijwanden en afgesloten door een plat dak. Aan weerszijden van de entree bevinden zich geveldelen ter breedte van vijf rechthoekige staande laddervensters met vierruits-roedenverdeling. Op de eerste verdieping van de middenpartij bevindt zich een vensterreeks van zes gekoppelde rechthoekige houten vensters (drie aan weerszijden van de middenas). In het dak is op de middenas een dakkapel aangebracht als in de voorgevel. De zijvleugels zijn voorzien van een (niet oorspronkelijke) houten borstwering met daarboven een (niet oorspronkelijke) vensterreeks van acht gekoppelde houten vensters.
De linkerzijgevel (NW) is identiek aan de rechterzijgevel.
Het interieur bevat onder andere nog de oorspronkelijke houten kapconstructie en op de eerste verdieping nog enkele paneeldeuren. Deze paneeldeuren hebben vier boven elkaar geplaatste liggende panelen, waarvan de drie onderste dicht zijn en de bovenste twee ruitjes met blauw glas en één met wit glas bevatten.
Waardering
Het hoofdgebouw is van algemeen belang als historisch-functioneel hoofdonderdeel van het voormalige gemeentelijke zwembadcomplex te Weesp en als merendeels gaaf bewaard voorbeeld van sportarchitectuur uit de jaren '30 van de 20ste eeuw in expressionistische bouwtrant.

The symmetrically constructed main building has a slightly angled floor plan, consisting of a wider central section flanked by narrower wings. The main entrance is located on the axis of symmetry, which also forms the angled point for the floor plan. The building has a central section at the height of two storeys, the wings have a height of one storey. The building is terminated by a wooden roof overhang and a high sloping thatched hipped roof that waves over the central section and wings. Red smoked thatch finials are placed on the ridge. On the central ridge angle stands a rectangular brick chimney. The length direction of the building runs virtually parallel to the Utrechtseweg. The building is constructed in broad horizontal rendered sections above a concrete foundation.
The symmetrically arranged front facade (SW) has long ribbon windows with wooden frames on both the ground floor and the first storey, with the windows on the ground floor being of modest height and continuing as fanlights in the wings on either side of the entrance. The emphasis lies on the projecting central axis which is distinguished on the ground floor and in the roof end gable. On the ground floor on either side of the central axis is a wooden panelled door with glass panels and glazing bars. In the roof on the central axis a semi-closed half-round roof dormer with half-round window is inserted.
The right side facade (SE) has a high-placed rectangular fanlight under the roof edge.

In the roof on the central axis a roof dormer is inserted as in the front facade. The side wings are provided with a (non-original) wooden balustrade with above it a (non-original) window sequence of eight coupled wooden windows.
The left side facade (NW) is identical to the right side facade.
The interior contains among other things the original wooden roof truss structure and on the first storey several panelled doors. These panelled doors have four horizontally placed panels positioned one above the other, of which the three lower ones are solid and the upper two contain panes with blue glass and one with white glass.
