Inleiding
De DUIVENTIL achter de boerderij, genaamd Tjaardastate, is zeer waarschijnlijk een herinnering aan de bezittingen van de voormalige Tjaarda-state en is gebouwd achter een voormalige pachtboerderij van de state. De duiventil met kleinveehok is omstreeks 1820-1840 opgetrokken in een Traditioneel-ambachtelijke bouwtrant. De duiventil is in 1994 gerestaureerd.
Omschrijving
Het gebouwtje heeft een rechthoekige plattegrond en bestaat uit één bouwlaag onder zadeldak, belegd met gesmoorde gegolfde Friese pannen op het westelijke dakschild en geglazuurde Hollandse pannen op het oostelijk dakschild. Het opgaand muurwerk bestaat uit bruine bakstenen met dagstreep. In de noordgevel een vertande inboeting met een ijzeren, halfrond stalraam onder een rollaag; in de geveltop een halfronde, gesloten onder- en bovendeur met in elk vier vliegopeningen. In de bakstenen geveltop aan elke zijde van het luik acht vliegopeningen: vijf onder en drie boven, elk met twee uitkragende kopse bakstenen onder de vliegopening.
In de oostgevel twee ijzeren, halfronde stalramen onder een rollaag.
In de zuidgevel een opening voor kleinvee, en in de topgevel twee registers van vliegopeningen: onder vijftien en boven vijftien. In de vliegopeningen is een uitgemetselde kopse baksteen.
Het INTERIEUR van de duiventil bestaat uit een kleinveestal met een ongelede zolder met een sporenkap en hanebalken.
Waardering
De duiventil uit het tweede kwart van de 19de eeuw is van algemeen cultuurhistorisch en architectuurhistorisch belang:
- als herinnering aan de bezittingen van de historische state Tjaarda op het terrein van een voormalige pachtboerderij;
- vanwege de cultuurhistorische betekenis voor de duivenhouderij;
- als bijzondere uitdrukking van de typologische ontwikkeling van de duiventil, gecombineerd met een kleinvee-stalling;

Introduction
The DOVECOTE behind the farmhouse, named Tjaardastate, is very probably a reminder of the possessions of the former Tjaarda estate and was built behind a former tenant farmhouse of the estate. The dovecote with small livestock hut was built around 1820-1840 in a Traditional-craftsman building style. The dovecote was restored in 1994.
Description
The building has a rectangular ground plan and consists of one storey under a gabled roof, covered with smoked corrugated Frisian tiles on the western roof slope and glazed Dutch tiles on the eastern roof slope. The exterior brickwork consists of brown bricks with day-marks. In the north facade a recessed recess with an iron, semi-circular stable window under a roll moulding; in the gable top a semi-circular, closed upper and lower door with in each four flight openings. In the brick gable top on each side of the hatch eight flight openings: five below and three above, each with two projecting header bricks under the flight opening.
In the east facade two iron, semi-circular stable windows under a roll moulding.
In the south facade an opening for small livestock, and in the gable end two registers of flight openings: below fifteen and above fifteen. In the flight openings is a projecting header brick.
The INTERIOR of the dovecote consists of a small livestock stall with an undecorated attic with a rafter truss and collar ties.
Valuation
The dovecote from the second quarter of the 19th century is of general cultural-historical and architectural-historical importance:
- as a reminder of the possessions of the historic Tjaarda estate on the site of a former tenant farmhouse;
- because of the cultural-historical significance for pigeon-keeping;
- as a special expression of the typological development of the dovecote, combined with a small livestock stalling;
- because of the special relationship between interior and exterior;
- because of the historical-spatial relationship with a farmhouse;
- because of the high degree of integrity;
- because of the high degree of rarity on a national scale of historic dovecotes.
