Omschrijving
Inleiding
- als bijzondere uitdrukking van een historisch-technische ontwikkeling, namelijk de geschiedenis van het lokaalspoor in Friesland;

- vanwege de redelijke mate van gaafheid van het exterieur;
- vanwege de hoge mate van gaafheid van het interieur;
- als hoofdobject van een eertijds functioneel complex met overige herkenbare terreinelementen;

Description
Introduction
The STATION BUILDING of the Noord-Friesche Locaal-Spoorwegmaatschappij was built in 1902 under company-bound station architecture and as a variant on the standard type of the simple station building, type B. Although the structural condition is very poor due to lack of maintenance, the reasonable degree of typological rarity in the province of Friesland and the extraordinary originality of the interior in particular, with waiting rooms, office and dwelling, are such that it justifies protection. On 14 May 1936 the last passenger train departed; goods transport ceased on 2 October 1961. The station building was subsequently converted into a double residence.
Description
The station has roughly a T-shaped plan, the main direction of the ridge parallel to the former railway line; a shallow extension at right angles and asymmetrically to it. The building consists of one storey under a composite gabled roof, covered with smoored corrugated Frisian tiles with a mesh pattern of red unglazed corrugated Frisian tiles. The roof has a substantial overhang on gutter brackets and formerly a decorative rafter at the gable tops. Two chimneys on the ridge. The facades are constructed in brown bricks on a tuff frame; the tectonic elements enlivened with yellow bricks (bands at the height of the under- and upper dormers of windows and rose windows). All light openings in the facade walls under an arched course with stone keystones and voussoirs; the tympana in yellow, red and black decorative brickwork.
In the south facade five windows: three single windows, two double H-windows and a door with glass panels and a fanlight. In the east facade one w.c. small window, a louvre window and in the gable top a rose window. The west facade is blank with the exception of a rose window in the gable top.
In the north facade two panelled doors for the residence and the station vestibule and two porte brisées with glass panels of the former waiting rooms; two double windows, one of which originally had twelve panes and two six-pane windows in the waiting rooms and a narrow H-window in the side facade of the extension. On the gable top of the short extension four hooks from which the station sign formerly hung; above it a double H-window.
The valuable INTERIOR of the station has the original LAYOUT consisting of a residence with living and bedroom, toilet and kitchen, the actual station with office, an L-shaped vestibule and two waiting rooms. In the roof space a loft. The furnishing of the rooms is to a very high degree original; all have among other things the original ceilings and doors. Among the valuable interior components are in the kitchen the range hood and larder; in the living room a sliding door and chimney mantle; in the office the ticket window with counter and access door to the vestibule; in both waiting rooms the chimney mantle and the wainscoting. The colour use in the interior is partly original in the office, the kitchen (moss green) and the waiting rooms.
