Inleiding
Rijk gedecoreerd CAFÉ uit 1904, opgetrokken in een aan de Neo-Renaissance verwante stijl. Het pand is gelegen in het midden van het dorp en wordt door een smal terrasje gescheiden van de weg.
In 1952 is het schuurgedeelte met doorreed aan de achterzijde van het pand verbouwd en uitgebreid tot cafézalen met garderobe. De garderobe is later omgebouwd tot slijterij. Deze na-oorlogse toevoegingen vallen buiten de bescherming.
Omschrijving
Het gebouw is opgetrokken uit rood-bruine baksteen afgewisseld met gepleisterde gevelbanden op een gepleisterde plint, op een nagenoeg vierkante plattegrond. Leien, in maasdekking gelegd, bedekken het afgeknotte driezijdige schilddak. Centraal in het voorste dakschild een kajuit met getrapte top, met daarop een boogvormig fronton met schelpdecoratie van stuc; aan weerszijden van de kajuit een kleine houten dakkapel met ovaal venster en barokke omlijsting. Onder de geprofileerde goot loopt een fries van rode baksteen afgewisseld met tegeltableaus. De afgesnoten hoeken hebben topgevels met een rond venster en gepleisterde beëindiging, waarop een gemetselde toppilaster met ijzeren ornament staat. Een risaliet centraal in de voorgevel wordt benadrukt door gepleisterde tandingen, die doorlopen in de eerder genoemde kajuit.
De gevels hebben T-vensters onder een hanenkam van afwisselend rode en gepleisterde baksteen; glas-in-lood in de bovenlichten; groen geglazuurde lekdorpels. In de zuid-westgevel is een kelderraam onder strek. In de noordelijke afgesnoten hoek een dubbele paneeldeur met bewerkte deurnaald, twee rondboogruiten, en halfrond bovenlicht; rollaag van rode steen met een sluitsteen van stuc.
Waardering
Het café uit 1904 is van algemeen cultuurhistorisch en architectuurhistorisch belang:
- vanwege de rijke ornamentiek en detaillering met Neo-Renaissance elementen;

Richly decorated CAFÉ from 1904, constructed in a style related to Neo-Renaissance. The building is located in the middle of the village and is separated from the road by a narrow terrace.
In 1952 the barn section with drive-through at the rear of the building was converted and expanded into café halls with cloakroom. The cloakroom was later converted into a off-licence. These post-war additions fall outside protection.
Description
The building is constructed of red-brown brick alternated with plastered facade bands on a plastered plinth, on an approximately square floor plan. Slate, laid in Dutch bond, covers the truncated three-sided hipped roof. Centrally in the front roof slope a cupola with stepped top, with a shell-decorated arched pediment of stucco on top; on either side of the cupola a small wooden roof dormer with oval window and baroque surround. Below the moulded gutter runs a frieze of red brick alternated with tile panels. The chamfered corners have top gables with a round window and plastered termination, on which stands a built-up top pilaster with iron ornament. A risalit centrally in the front facade is emphasised by plastered dentils, which continue into the aforementioned cupola.
The facades have T-windows under gable ridges of alternating red and plastered brick; leaded glass in the fanlights; green glazed drip-moulds. In the south-west gable a basement window under a lintel. In the northern chamfered corner a double panel door with worked door handle, two semicircular lights, and semicircular fanlight; roll-moulding of red stone with a stucco voussoir.
Valuation
The café from 1904 is of general cultural-historical and architectural-historical importance:
- on account of its rich ornamentation and detailing with Neo-Renaissance elements;
- on account of the considerable degree of integrity of the exterior;
- on account of the regional rarity of such a building type and construction manner;
- on account of its image-forming location in the middle of the village.
