Omschrijving
Een witgepleisterd woonhuis uit ongeveer 1920 in Cottage Stijl met een haaks erachter geplaatst achterhuis in witgeverfde baksteen. Het gehele pand is gedekt door een met riet belegd samengesteld schilddak met ruim overstek; een dakkapel onder rieten dak aan voor- en achterzijde. Het voorhuis heeft een zwart gepleisterde plint; het achterhuis een zwart geverfde bakstenen plint. Langs de voorgevel van het voorhuis loopt een veranda, steunend op vier betonnen pilaren. De linker zijopening is dichtgezet met een groot raam met roedeverdeling. Centraal in de voorgevel is de houten geverfde toegangsdeur met zijlichten en een bovenlicht met decoratieve tracering. Rechts van de deur twee achtruitsvensters met in de bovenlichten met verf aangebrachte glas-in-loodstrips; geprofileerde omlijsting. Links van de deur een stalen vensterpartij, waarin openslaande deuren zijn opgenomen.
De westelijke zijgevel heeft een verhoogd middenrisaliet met tuitgevel onder gebroken zadeldak; bovenop de tuit annex schoorsteen een fraaie rookmond van gebakken steen; in de geveltop twee kleine boogvensters. In het risaliet een omlopend glas-in-loodraam, gevat in decoratieve houten kozijnen.
In de oostelijke zijgevel van het voorhuis een achtruitsvenster en een meerruitsvenster. In het dak een kajuit met een vrijwel identieke tuitgevel en rookmond als bij de westgevel; twee rechthoekige vensters in de geveltop.
Het achterhuis, voorzien van staafankers, heeft een toegangsdeur met bovenlicht met siertracering en zijlichten; stenen stoep. Ernaast een groot samengesteld venster dat uitkijkt op een terrasje van betonnen grindtegels. In de westgevel van het achterhuis twee achtruitsvensters, twee zesruitsvensters met daaronder twee dubbele kelderramen met diefijzers. In de oostgevel een gevelsteen met de tekst: "P.J. Scheltema, den 8 Juny 1841". Naast de steen een nieuwe deur en dito venster.
Waardering
De van oorsprong midden negentiende eeuwse rentenierswoning is van algemeen architectuurhistorisch belang:
- als hoofdonderdeel van het complex van woonhuis en hekpijlers;

Description
A white-rendered residential house from around 1920 in Cottage Style with a rear wing placed at right angles behind it in whitewashed brick. The entire building is covered by a composite hipped roof thatched with reed with generous overhang; a roof dormer with thatched roof on the front and rear sides. The front house has a black-rendered plinth; the rear wing a black-painted brick plinth. Along the front facade of the front house runs a veranda, supported on four concrete pillars. The left side opening is sealed with a large window with glazing bars. Centrally in the front facade is the wooden painted entrance door with side lights and a fanlight with decorative tracery. To the right of the door two sash windows with glass-in-lead strips applied in paint in the fanlights; profiled surround. To the left of the door a steel window unit in which French doors are incorporated.
The western side facade has a raised central projection with a spout gable under a broken saddle roof; on top of the spout and chimney a fine brick chimney pot; in the gable top two small arched windows. In the projection a continuous leaded window, set in decorative wooden frames.
In the eastern side facade of the front house a sash window and a multi-paned window. In the roof a cabin with a virtually identical spout gable and chimney pot as on the west facade; two rectangular windows in the gable top.
The rear wing, provided with staple anchors, has an entrance door with a fanlight with decorative tracery and side lights; stone step. Next to it a large composite window overlooking a terrace of concrete gravel tiles. In the west facade of the rear wing two sash windows, two six-paned windows with below them two double cellar windows with security bars. In the east facade a stone tablet with the text: "P.J. Scheltema, den 8 Juny 1841". Next to the stone a new door and corresponding window.
Valuation
The originally mid-nineteenth century gentleman's residence is of general architectural historical importance:
- as the principal component of the complex of residential house and gate piers;
- because of the architectural transformation it underwent in the 1920s;
- because of its aesthetically successful design;
- because of the careful detailing;
- because of its prominent location in the centre of the village.
