Omschrijving
ZAALKERK (1850-1851) in Ambachtelijk-traditionele bouwstijl, van vier traveeën op rechthoekige plattegrond, opgetrokken in bruine baksteen en gedekt door een met zwarte Friese golfpannen belegd schilddak. Op de nok aan de voorzijde een dakruiter onder koepeldakje.
De voorgevel met hoekpilasters en een gepleisterd fries bevindt zich onder een uitkragende kroonlijst op klossen. De hoekpilasters hebben een iets uitkragend basement en kapitelen van afgeronde baksteen. In de voorgevel is een centraal gelegen dubbele rondboog paneeldeur binnen een eenvoudige betimmerde lijst; rondboog bovenlicht met radiale roedeverdeling. Aan weerszijden van de entree kleine spitsboogvensters met roedeverdeling en vorktracering in de kop.
Langs de zij- en achtergevels een eenvoudige gootlijst op klossen. Tegen de muurdammen tussen de vier grote spitsboogvensters in de zijgevels pilasters, identiek als die aan de voorgevel. De vensters met roedeverdeling en vorktracering in de kop hebben natuurstenen afzaten. De blinde achtergevel heeft dezelfde detaillering als de voorgevel.
Kleine houten klokkentoren op vierkante plattegrond met eenvoudige wijzerplaten en spitsboogvormige galmgaten. Boven de geprofileerde gootlijst een koepeldakje met weerhaan; windvaan op de nok aan de achterzijde.
Tot het INTERIEUR behoort een gaaf éénklaviers orgeltje dat in 1907 is vervaardigd door de firma Bakker en Timmenga uit Leeuwarden. Het houten orgelbalkon rust op taps toelopende hardstenen kolommen.
Waardering
De sobere zaalkerk is van algemeen cultuur- en architectuurhistorisch belang:
- als essentieel ruimtelijk en functioneel onderdeel van het complex met pastorie, catechisatielokaaltje en begraafplaats;
- vanwege de eenvoudige doch harmonieuze traditionele baksteenarchitectuur;

Description
HALL CHURCH (1850-1851) in craftsmanship-traditional building style, of four bays on rectangular plan, constructed in brown brick and covered by a hipped roof laid with black Frisian tiles. On the ridge at the front a roof turret under a cupola roof.
The front facade with corner pilasters and a rendered frieze is situated under a projecting cornice on corbels. The corner pilasters have a slightly projecting base and capitals of rounded brick. In the front facade is a centrally located double round-arch panelled door within a simple timber-framed surround; round-arch fanlight with radial glazing bars. On either side of the entrance small pointed-arch windows with glazing bars and forked tracery in the head.
Along the side and rear facades a simple gutter moulding on corbels. Against the wall sections between the four large pointed-arch windows in the side facades pilasters, identical to those on the front facade. The windows with glazing bars and forked tracery in the head have natural stone sills. The blind rear facade has the same detailing as the front facade.
Small wooden bell tower on square plan with simple clock faces and pointed-arch-shaped sound holes. Above the moulded gutter moulding a cupola roof with weathercock; wind vane on the ridge at the rear.
The INTERIOR includes a well-preserved single-keyboard small organ manufactured in 1907 by the firm Bakker en Timmenga from Leeuwarden. The wooden organ gallery rests on tapering stone columns.
Valuation
The austere hall church is of general cultural and architectural-historical importance:
- as an essential spatial and functional component of the complex with parsonage, catechism room and cemetery;
- because of the simple yet harmonious traditional brick architecture;
- because of the striking location along the Rijksstraatweg;
- because of the presence and integrity of the organ from 1907.
