The register's description

Inleiding:

Introduction:

LONG-FACADE FARMHOUSE built in 1920 in craft-traditional style as a mixed enterprise for the farmer A.J. Raaijmaakers. It is partly built on the foundations of an old farmhouse, which was destroyed by fire. The farmhouse has a rectangular plan with the long front or east facade facing Laan ten Boomen. The north-west facade faces Heesvenstraat. The farmhouse stands freely on the plot. On the south-east side a new extension to the stable. In the yard a former horse stable with cart shed now barn and a bakehouse.

Description:

The one-storey farmhouse has a gabled roof between spout gables, covered with grey Tuile du Nord tiles. The residential section, which is located on the north side of the farmhouse, has corner pilasters. It is symmetrical in design and three bays wide, both in the front and in the gable end. The masonry consists of machine-made brick laid in cross bond with courses of yellow brick and cement plinth. The yellow stone also alternates with the red stone in the segmental arches of the wall openings and around windows in the side facade. Under the eaves decorative brickwork.

In the arched wall openings cement arch drums with brown black coloured flower-petal decoration in relief. The windows are provided with T-windows with a six-pane glazing bar pattern and shutters with a blind or jalousie at the top. In the fanlights of the windows yellow and green ornamental glass. Cast iron balcony anchors with palmette motif.

The business section has concrete stable windows with two-pane glazing. The residential section has largely preserved interior with simple detailing. The stable section has been altered. The barn has a gabled roof covered with grey Romanesque tiles, here the masonry consists of red Belgian brick laid in cross bond. The bakehouse, of which the oven is no longer present, has a gabled roof covered with old-Dutch tiles. The yard is bordered by a beech hedge.

Valuation

The long-facade farmhouse is of general importance. The building has cultural-historical significance as an example of the socio-economic development of agriculture in the Peel region.

It is also significant as an example of the typological development and innovation of the long-facade farmhouse in the Interwar period and forms the culmination of a development, which is documented in the farmhouses already earlier protected in this region. Architecturally the property is significant because of the sober, but for a farmhouse relatively rich, ornamental work derived from residential architecture and the particular coherence between exterior and interior. The building has ensemble values due to its location in a valuable and well-preserved agricultural hamlet. It is important because of its integrity and is as such rare.
