Inleiding
In 1856 gebouwde WAGENSCHUUR is gebouwd door of in opdracht van Gerrit Lazonder, een goudwerker uit Schoonhoven. De schuur is mogelijk enige tijd als katholieke kerk in gebruik geweest. De getoogde inrijdeur aan de voorzijde was oorspronkelijk, evenals de vensters, voorzien van een spitsboog. De deuropening is dichtgemetseld en beschilderd. De schuur had oorspronkelijk een iets verhoogde vloer en werd tevens als vluchtschuur gebruikt bij hoog water. De schuur ligt ten noordoosten van de boerderij.
Omschrijving
De aan de Lopikerweg west gelegen wagenschuur is opgetrokken op een rechthoekige plattegrond en telt één bouwlaag onder een zadeldak met de nok haaks op de weg. De dakbedekking bestaat uit rode Hollandse pannen. De uit grauwe baksteen opgetrokken gevels zijn voorzien van diverse muurankers. De symmetrisch opgezette voorgevel is een klokgevel, welke opnieuw is gevoegd. Het middenrisaliet is geleed door gemetselde horizontale banden. In het midden bevindt zich een verdiept segmentboogvormig veld waarin een dubbele schijndeur is geschilderd. Deze segmentboog is ingevoegd in een spitsboog, die wordt doorsneden door een later aangebrachte gecementeerde latei. Erboven is de eerste steen ingemetseld die de tekst droeg: `G. Lazonder 6 juni 1856'. Daarboven is een gietijzeren roosvenster gezet. Terzijde van het risaliet is een spitsbogige ijzeren stalvenster geplaatst. De linkerzijgevel bevat twee spitsboogvensters. In de rechterzijgevel zijn dichtgezette spitsboogvensters herkenbaar. De achtergevel is als tuitgevel uitgevoerd met vlechtingen. In het midden is een deels dichtgezette segmentboogvormige opening herkenbaar, waarin een niet oorspronkelijke deur. Ter rechterzijde bevindt zich een rondboogvormige deur. The shed is laid out as a stable. The roof truss structure consists of three principal rafters. The tiles are covered with thatch.
Assessment
The cart shed is of general importance because of its cultural and architectural-historical value through the fairly well-preserved main form and detailing in, among other things, neo-Gothic style, as well as because of the roof truss structure. The shed is also of importance because of the function it has served as a church shed.
