Inleiding
Tabaksfabriek "de Olifant" werd in 1883 opgericht en is gehuisvest in TWEE PAKHUIZEN aan de Voorstraat. Het erachter liggende pand aan de Oudestraat 101 (mon.nr. 23099) herbergt de sigarenwinkel. De Olifant is de enige tabaksfabriek in Kampen die ten tijde van de aanwijzing, 1998, nog in functie is.
Omschrijving
Twee hoge pakhuizen met tuitgevels over vier bouwlagen, opgetrokken in rode machinale baksteen onder zadeldaken. De gevelopeningen en de dakrand zijn gedecoreerd met gele verblendsteen; de dakrand is bovendien voorzien van een klimmend gemetsteld keperboogfries.
Op iedere verdieping centraal geplaatste dubbele deuren onder segmentbogen (in de rechtergevel op de eerste verdieping vervangen door vensters) geflankeerd door segmentboogvormige vensters. In de geveltoppen bevindt zich een hijsbalk.
Gaaf INTERIEUR met balkenplafonds en vooroorlogse machinerieën ter vervaardiging van sigaren.

Introduction
Tobacco factory "de Olifant" was founded in 1883 and is housed in TWO WAREHOUSES on the Voorstraat. The building behind it on the Oudestraat 101 (mon.no. 23099) houses the cigar shop. The Olifant is the only tobacco factory in Kampen that was still in operation at the time of designation, 1998.
Description
Two tall warehouses with spout gables over four storeys, constructed in red machine-made brick under saddle roofs. The facade openings and roof edge are decorated with yellow facing brick; the roof edge is moreover fitted with a rising-stepped herringbone-bond arch frieze.
On each floor centrally placed double doors under segmental arches (in the right facade on the first floor replaced by windows) flanked by segmental-arch windows. In the gable tops there is a hoist beam.
Intact INTERIOR with beam ceilings and pre-war machinery for the manufacture of cigars.
