Inleiding
Neo-Gotisch GRAFMONUMENT van Otto Johannes Schreuders uit 1886. Het monument werd vervaardigd door de beeldhouwer E.A.F. Bourgonion naar een ontwerp van de architect A. Mialaret uit Den Haag. Schreuders was van 1861 tot 1883 directeur van het instituut voor middelbaar onderwijs te Noordwijk.
Omschrijving
Het geheel in zandsteen uitgevoerde grafmonument bestaat uit een sarcofaag en een grafsteen, gedecoreerd met neogotische ornamenten. Op de voorzijde van de steen een (thans verweerde) reliëftekst. Aan weerszijden van de tekst getordeerde zuiltjes en florale ornamenten en familiewapens in reliëf. Op de zijkant van de steen een plaatje met de oorspronkelijke tekst: "Aan Otto Johannes Schreuders, geboren te Voorburg 8 augustus 1823, overleden te Zoeterwoude 22 januari 1886, zijne dankbare vrienden".
Waardering
Het uit 1886 daterende grafmonument van O.J. Schreurders is van algemeen belang wegens cultuur- en architectuurhistorische waarde als representatief voorbeeld van neogotische vormgeving en de redelijke mate van gaafheid in hoofdvorm, materiaalgebruik en detaillering.
Het grafmonument heeft ensemblewaarde vanwege de ruimtelijke en functionele samenhang met de overige onderdelen van het begraafplaatscomplex te Noordwijk.

Neo-Gothic GRAVE MONUMENT of Otto Johannes Schreuders from 1886. The monument was created by sculptor E.A.F. Bourgonion according to a design by architect A. Mialaret from The Hague. Schreuders was director of the institute for secondary education at Noordwijk from 1861 to 1883.
Description
The grave monument, executed entirely in sandstone, consists of a sarcophagus and a grave stone, decorated with neo-gothic ornaments. On the front of the stone a (now weathered) relief text. On either side of the text twisted pillars and floral ornaments and family coat of arms in relief. On the side of the stone a plaque with the original text: "To Otto Johannes Schreuders, born at Voorburg 8 August 1823, died at Zoeterwoude 22 January 1886, his grateful friends".
Valuation
The grave monument of O.J. Schreuders dating from 1886 is of general importance because of its cultural and architectural-historical value as a representative example of neo-gothic form and reasonable degree of intactness in essential form, material use and detailing.
