Inleiding
De traditioneel vormgegeven SMEDERIJ staat op het terrein van het Stift; het oudste gedeelte van Weerselo en beschermd dorpsgezicht.
Omschrijving
Pand van één bouwlaag op een zandstenen plint, opgetrokken in rode machinale baksteen. Het zadeldak met makelaars en hangstijlen boven de eindgevels is met grijze en rode muldenpannen gedekt. De westgevel is voorzien van twee entrees; een deur met bovenlicht en een dubbele deur met een door diagonale roeden verdeeld bovenlicht. Verder zijn in deze gevel drie zesruitsvensters geplaatst. De muuropeningen in deze gevel bevinden zich onder een segmentboog met sluitsteen.
De zuidzijde van de smederij heeft twee achtruits rondboogvensters waarvan het bovenste deel een radiale roedenverdeling heeft. Op de verdieping bevindt zich een vierruits venster. Aan de oostzijde zijn twee rondboog vensters geplaatst die identiek zijn aan die van de zuidzijde van het pand. Tussen deze vensters bevindt zich een deur met bovenlicht. In het rechter geveldeel een tweede deur zonder bovenlicht. De inventaris is nog compleet: er zijn twee gemetselde vuurplaatsen, een wals, een knipmachine en gereedschappen. Bij de smederij staat een pomp met een zandstenen put en een steen voor het buigen van wielbeslag.

Description
Building of one storey on a sandstone plinth, constructed in red machine-made brick. The gabled roof with braces and hanging struts above the end gables is covered with grey and red pantiles. The west gable is furnished with two entrances; a door with fanlight and a double door with a fanlight divided by diagonal glazing bars. Furthermore three six-pane windows are placed in this gable. The wall openings in this gable are situated under a segmental arch with keystone.
The south side of the smithy has two eight-pane round-arch windows of which the upper part has a radial glazing bar division. On the upper storey is a four-pane window. On the east side two round-arch windows are placed which are identical to those on the south side of the building. Between these windows is a door with fanlight. In the right part of the gable a second door without fanlight. The inventory is still complete: there are two brick fireplaces, a roller, a shearing machine and tools. By the smithy stands a pump with a sandstone well and a stone for bending wheel tyre.
