Omschrijving
Hervormde Kerk op het Stift. Overblijfsel van een midden 12e eeuw gestichte Benedictijner abdij, later stift van wereldlijke kanonikessen. Eenbeukig rechtgesloten gebouw van vier traveeën, aan de westzijde ingekort. Muren van Bentheimersteen. 14e eeuw of vroeger. Gewelven omstreeks 1500. Inwendig: romans doopvont plm 1200, priesterzerken uit de 16e en stifsdameszerken uit de 17e eeuw. Eenklaviers orgel van H. Knipscheer. Klokkenstoel met gelui van twee klokken, waarvan één van een anonieme gieter, 1571, diam. 44,5 cm. en één van J. ter Steghe, 1545, diam. 87 cm. Mechanisch smeedijzeren torenuurwerk, circa 1700, later voorzien van electrische opwinding. In de zuidmuur hoog naast het meest westelijke raam een stenen zonnewijzer, waarvan een klein deel nog achter het muuranker steekt. De Bentheimer stenen plaat is veel jonger dan de muur. Gerestaureerd in 1986.

Description
Reformed Church on the Stift. Remnant of a Benedictine abbey founded mid-12th century, later collegiate foundation of secular canonesses. Single-aisled rectlinear building of four bays, shortened on the west side. Walls of Bentheim stone. 14th century or earlier. Vaults circa 1500. Interior: Romanesque font circa 1200, priest's tombs from the 16th and collegiate foundation tombs from the 17th century. Single-manual organ by H. Knipscheer. Bell frame with chime of two bells, one by an anonymous founder, 1571, diam. 44.5 cm. and one by J. ter Steghe, 1545, diam. 87 cm. Mechanical wrought-iron tower clock, circa 1700, later provided with electric winding. In the south wall high beside the westernmost window a stone sundial, of which a small part still projects behind the wall anchor. The Bentheim stone plate is much younger than the wall. Restored in 1986.
