Omschrijving

Description

Partly cellared COUNTRY HOUSE of two storeys on L-shaped ground plan under an overhanging composite hipped-gabled roof covered with red barrel tiles. Large brick chimneys stand on the ridges of both roof sections. The plasterwork of the facades is inlaid with pebbles on the ground floor and painted white on the first floor. The wooden balcony running around the corner on the south and east facades is supported by wooden columns. Above the east facade the roof slope is angled and extended above the balcony. The balcony has closed corners and a balustrade of carved balusters. In the south facade a panel door under a semi-circular fanlight with radial glazing bars forms the main entrance to the house. To the right of this door two sliding doors with large glass panes which, like the three balcony doors on the first floor, are provided with rear-light fanlights. The double twelve-light dormer window in the gable top is hung with shutters of which the lower half is painted with a red hourglass on a white background.

On the ground floor in the west facade a large kitchen window with composite frame and on the first floor two windows with twelve-light fanlights. The dormer has a wooden gable top and a double six-light window under a gabled roof covered with red barrel tiles.

In the risalit on the north facade the double ten-light glass doors are set under semi-circular fanlights with radial glazing bars within a straight closed list. The large (renewed) first-floor windows are provided with 24-light fanlights. The balustrade of the loggia on the attic storey has carved balusters and two corner brackets that support the boarding in the gable top. Most windows and doors are hung with applied shutters. The virtually unaltered interior contains among others wooden wainscotting and various mantels.

Valuation

Country house of general cultural, architectural-historical and urban-planning importance because of:

- the building style with chalet-style elements which is characteristic of the work of Karel Muller in Twente between c. 1900 and 1915

- the integrity of the exterior and interior

- the ensemble value as part of the complex
