Omschrijving
Inleiding
KANTOORGEBOUW oorspronkelijk behorend bij de fabriek van Heemaf. Het gebouw staat met de hoofdgevel (O) aan de Bornsestraat en sluit in de rooilijn aan op een vroeger kantoorgebouw (N) van twee lagen met kap dat voor bescherming van ondergeschikt belang is.
Het kantoorgebouw bestaat uit een deel van drie en een deel van vier bouwlagen. Aan de achterzijde (W) sluit het gebouw, middels een plat afgedekte uitbouw van vier lagen, aan op het niet van rijkswege beschermde fabrieksgebouw.
De architectuur van het kantoor is een goed voorbeeld van de zakelijke bouwstijl uit de tweede helft van de jaren dertig en sluit nauw aan bij die van de belangrijke utiliteitsbouwwerken uit die periode van bijvoorbeeld Dirk Roosenburg (KLM Den Haag, Philips Eindhoven).
Omschrijving
Het kantoor heeft een hoofdvolume in vier lagen met een gewelfd dak. Tegen de kopgevel aan de zuidzijde staat een lager (drie lagen) en smaller bouwdeel, eveneens met gewelfd dak. Het gebouw is geconstrueerd met een draagconstructie en dakgewelven in gewapend beton. De gevels zijn gemetseld in rode baksteen en geleed met betonnen kolommen; de raamprofielen zijn uitgevoerd in groen geverfd staal. De daken zijn belegd met een dakbedekking van mastiek / ruberoid tussen betonnen dakranden.
De voorgevel van het hoofdvolume heeft over drie bouwlagen 12 vensterassen, gescheiden door betonnen kolommen en voorzien van gemetselde borstweringen. Dit geheel wordt aan de boven- en onderzijde ingekaderd door betonnen lijsten. Op de bovenste laag zijn zes ronde vensters geplaatst met betonnen kozijnen en stalen raamprofielen. Aan de noordzijde wordt dit geveldeel begrensd door een penant die ongeveer een meter uitsteekt, aan de linkerkant (Z) is een raamtravee iets teruggeplaatst en voorzien van wat smallere vensters.
Het bouwdeel aan de zuidzijde heeft een blinde oostgevel, terwijl de smalle zuidgevel rond gebogen is. Deze is voorzien van drie vensterassen met dezelfde geleding als de twaalf assen in de hoofdgevel. In de kopgevel van het hoofdvolume bevinden zich naast dit bouwdeel drie kleine vensters.
Aan de westzijde heeft het grote bouwvolume zowel in de achtergevel als in de uitbouw vensters van hetzelfde type als in de voorgevel en zuidelijke kopgevel, maar hier zijn zij echter in het metselwerk geplaatst zonder een geleding met betonkolommen.
Op de vierde bouwlaag van de vlak gedekte uitbouw bevindt zich een smal balkon met stalen borstwering.
Waardering
Kantoorgebouw van cultuurhistorisch en architectuurhistorisch belang:

OFFICE BUILDING originally belonging to the Heemaf factory. The building has its front façade (E) on the Bornsestraat and aligns in the building line with a former office building (N) of two storeys with roof that is of secondary importance for protection.
The office building consists of a part of three and a part of four storeys. On the rear side (W) the building connects, by means of a flat-roofed extension of four storeys, to the factory building not protected by the state.
The architecture of the office is a good example of the business building style from the second half of the nineteen-thirties and closely follows that of important utilitarian structures from that period by, for example, Dirk Roosenburg (KLM The Hague, Philips Eindhoven).
Description
The office has a main volume of four storeys with a curved roof. Against the gable façade on the south side stands a lower (three storeys) and narrower building part, also with curved roof. The building is constructed with a load-bearing structure and roof vaults in reinforced concrete. The façades are brick-built in red brick and articulated with concrete columns; the window frames are executed in green painted steel. The roofs are covered with a roofing of mastic / ruberoid between concrete roof edges.
The front façade of the main volume has over three storeys 12 window bays, separated by concrete columns and provided with brick parapets. This whole is framed at the top and bottom by concrete cornices. On the top storey six round windows are placed with concrete frames and steel window profiles. On the north side this façade section is bounded by a penant projecting approximately one metre, on the left side (S) a window bay is set back slightly and provided with narrower windows.
The building section on the south side has a blind east façade, while the narrow south façade is curved. This is provided with three window bays with the same articulation as the twelve bays in the main façade. In the gable façade of the main volume next to this building section are three small windows.
On the west side the large building volume has both in the rear façade and in the extension windows of the same type as in the front façade and southern gable façade, but here they are placed in the brickwork without articulation with concrete columns.
On the fourth storey of the flat-roofed extension there is a narrow balcony with steel parapet.

Office building of cultural and architectural historical value:
