Inleiding
Transformatorhuis "Odoorn" is in de jaren '30 gebouwd in de stijl van het traditionalisme. Het betreft een, niet alleen in Drenthe, veel voorkomend model, dat echter in uitvoering en gaafheid een zeldzame rijkdom heeft gekregen en bovendien in zeer oorsponkelijke toestand verkeert. Vlak na de oplevering is het transformatorhuis geheel in stijl vergroot.
Beschrijving
Transformatorhuis opgetrokken in baksteen met een verjongend trasraam onder een met tuil du nord gedekt zadeldak. De aanbouw is een fractie smaller en lager, en heeft bovendien een schildkap. Decoratief gebruikt metselwerk, o.a. in uikragingen onder consoles, raamdorpels, strekken en waterlijsten.
De kopse gevel van het oudste bouwdeel heeft de oorspronkelijke houten dubbele paneeldeur. Aan de straatzijde een ingemetselde betonnen naamsteen. In de lange gevel stalen deuren en met terra-cotta dicht gezette lichtsleuven. De blinde achtergevel heeft decoratieve gemetselde vlakken.

Transformer station built in brick with a tapering tuff frame under a gabled roof covered with Tuile du Nord. The extension is slightly narrower and lower, and furthermore has a half-hipped roof. Decorative brickwork, including in corbels under brackets, window sills, courses and drip mouldings.
The gable end of the oldest building part has the original wooden double-panelled door. On the street side an embedded concrete nameplate. In the long gable steel doors and light slots filled with terracotta. The blank rear gable has decorative brickwork panels.
