Inleiding
Kerk gebouwd in 1925 in opdracht van de Kerkeraad der Gereformeerde Kerk te Nieuw-Amsterdam, naar ontwerp van W. van Straten met invloed van de Amsterdamse School. In de achtergevel is materiaal van de oude kerk hergebruikt. Het interieur verkeert in oorspronkelijke staat. Opvallend is de typologie van de kerk die de ruimtewerking heeft van een centraalbouw.
Eind jaren '50 zijn de vergaderlokalen verbouwd door architectenbureau Gebr. Blaauw uit Emmen. In 1976 is de bestaande pastorie gesloopt, op het naastliggende perceel is de nieuwe gebouwd , naar ontwerp van architect A. Rotmensen uit Schoonebeek in landschappelijke villastijl.
Omschrijving
Kruiskerk met dubbel transept en uitgebouwde consistorie, opgetrokken in baksteen, onder paraboolvormige zadeldaken gedekt met OH-pannen. De kerk heeft een plint met donkere bakstenen speklagen. De gootlijsten zijn om de hoeken gezet van de kopgevels. Op de viering een diagonaal geplaatste dakruiter; een taps toelopende houten opbouw met een spits tentdak met paraboolvormig gebogen dakschilden, bekroond met een spits.
De voorgevel en de kopgevels van het transept hebben aan de zijkanten steunberen die aansluiten op de kromming van het dakvlak, waardoor de gevels in hun totaal paraboolvormig lijken te zijn.
De voorgevel heeft een risalerende entreepartij met stoep, daarin drie dubbele opgeklampte deuren, de middelste breder. De spleetvormige bovenlichten met glas- in-lood zijn van de deuren gescheiden door een fries van staand metselwerk over de volle breedte van de risaliet. Boven de waterlijst van de risaliet een gevelsteen gevat in decoratief metselwerk met: "Onze hulpe is in de naam des heeren. Psalm 124 vs 8". Boven de risaliet zeven vensters gescheiden door bakstenen muurdammen, tesamen een parabool vormend. In de geveltop een sluitsteen van decoratief metselwerk.
De kopgevels van de transeptarmen hebben drie gekoppelde vensters met daarboven een paraboolvormige drielicht van door muurdammen gescheiden vensters. Alle vensters met glas-in-lood. In de geveltop een sluitsteen van decoratief metselwerk.
In de zijgevels van het schip drie gekoppelde paraboolvormige vensters.
De gevels van de consistorie zijn gewijzigd.
InterieurDe afwerking van interieur is in Amsterdamse School stijl. Met schroten afgetimmerde dakstoel. Houten lambriseringen, balkon met overnaadse delen, betegelde preekstoel. Originele banken in origineel visgraatvormig bankenplan.

Church built in 1925 on behalf of the Church Council of the Reformed Church in Nieuw-Amsterdam, designed by W. van Straten with influence from the Amsterdam School. Material from the old church has been reused in the rear gable. The interior is in its original state. Notable is the typology of the church which has the spatial effect of a centralized building.
In the late 1950s the meeting rooms were remodeled by the architects' office Gebr. Blaauw from Emmen. In 1976 the existing rectory was demolished and a new one was built on the adjacent plot, designed by architect A. Rotmensen from Schoonebeek in landscape villa style.
Description
Cross church with double transept and built-out vestry, constructed of brick, under parabola-shaped gabled roofs covered with OH tiles. The church has a plinth with dark brick striped courses. The gutters are set at the corners of the gable ends. On the crossing a diagonally placed roof turret; a tapering wooden structure with a pointed hip roof with parabola-shaped curved roof tiles, crowned with a spire.
The front gable and the gable ends of the transept have buttresses at the sides that follow the curve of the roof plane, whereby the gables in their entirety appear parabola-shaped.
The front gable has a projecting entrance section with steps, containing three double clamped doors, the middle one wider. The slot-shaped fanlights with glass-in-lead are separated from the doors by a frieze of upright brickwork across the full width of the projecting section. Above the drip moulding of the projecting section a foundation stone set in decorative brickwork with: "Our help is in the name of the Lord. Psalm 124 vs 8". Above the projecting section seven windows separated by brick piers, together forming a parabola. In the gable top a keystone of decorative brickwork.
The gable ends of the transept arms have three coupled windows with above them a parabola-shaped three-light with windows separated by brick piers. All windows with glass-in-lead. In the gable top a keystone of decorative brickwork.
In the side gables of the nave three coupled parabola-shaped windows.
The gables of the vestry have been altered.
InteriorThe interior finish is in Amsterdam School style. Roof truss structure clad with boarding. Wooden wall-panelling, balcony with flush-jointed sections, tiled pulpit. Original pews in original herringbone pew layout.
