Inleiding
CONSISTORIEKAMER, in eenvoudige ambachtelijk-traditionele bouwtrant. De consistoriekamer, die ook onderdak bood aan een zondagsschool is een 19de-eeuwse uitbreiding bij de Nederlands hervormde kerk van Abbekerk (1656). De consistoriekamer ligt aan de aflopende noordzijde van de verhoging in het landschap waarop ook de hervormde kerk gebouwd is. De consistoriekamer bevindt zich enkele meters noordwestelijk van de kerk. Thans (1994), wordt het object door de Nederlands Hervormde Gemeente Abbekerk-Lambertschaag gebruikt als drukkerij en consistoriekamer.
Omschrijving
De op rechthoekig grondplan gebouwde consistoriekamer bestaat uit een parterre en een kapverdieping, onder een met zwarte Hollandse pannen bedekt zadeldak met schild aan de straatzijde. In het midden van de haaks op de Dorpsstraat staande nok bevindt zich een gemetselde vierkante schoorsteen. Het oost-west gerichte bouwlichaam van de consistoriekamer is opgebouwd in rode baksteen met een gecementeerde plint. De oostzijde (voorzijde) heeft geblokte hoekpilasters, een hoofdgestel en twee zesruitsschuifvensters. De zuidzijde (kerkzijde) heeft links een houten paneeldeur met bovenlicht en rechts hiervan twee zesruitsschuifvensters. Tevens zijn aan deze zijde muurankers zichtbaar. De westzijde (achterzijde) heeft op de parterre één schuifvenster en op de van schoorsteen en schouderstukken voorziene kapverdieping, waar vier muurankers zichtbaar zijn, een luik. De noordgevel is blind en vormt de grens met het belendende erf. In het interieur van de consistoriekamer bevindt zich nog een originele, grotendeels uit 4 paneeldeuren bestaande, tussenwand.
Waardering
De midden 19de eeuwse consistoriekamer bij de Nederlands Hervormde kerk van Abbekerk is van algemeen belang wegens architectuur- en cultuurhistorische waarde alsook ensemblewaarde als gaaf bewaard gebleven voorbeeld van een traditioneel-ambachtelijk kerkelijk bijgebouw.

CONSISTORY CHAMBER, in simple craftsman-traditional building style. The consistory chamber, which also provided accommodation for a Sunday school, is a 19th-century extension to the Dutch Reformed Church of Abbekerk (1656). The consistory chamber is located on the sloping north side of the elevation in the landscape on which the Reformed church is also built. The consistory chamber is situated several metres northwest of the church. At present (1994), the building is used by the Dutch Reformed Parish Abbekerk-Lambertschaag as a printing house and consistory chamber.
Description
Built on a rectangular ground plan, the consistory chamber consists of a ground floor and a mansard storey, under a gabled roof covered with black Dutch tiles with a hipped roof on the street side. In the centre of the ridge running perpendicular to the Dorpsstraat there is a masoned square chimney. The east-west oriented building body of the consistory chamber is constructed in red brick with a cemented plinth. The east side (front) has blocked corner pilasters, an entablature and two six-pane sash windows. The south side (church side) has on the left a wooden panelled door with fanlight and to the right of this two six-pane sash windows. Ornamental wall anchors are also visible on this side. The west side (rear) has on the ground floor one sash window and on the mansard storey, which is provided with a chimney and shoulder pieces and where four ornamental wall anchors are visible, a shutter. The north gable is blank and forms the boundary with the adjoining property. In the interior of the consistory chamber there is still an original partition wall, consisting largely of 4 panelled doors.
Valuation
The mid-19th-century consistory chamber attached to the Dutch Reformed Church of Abbekerk is of general importance due to its architectural and cultural-historical value as well as ensemble value as a well-preserved example of a traditional-craftsman ecclesiastical outbuilding.
