Inleiding
RENTENIERSWONING in eclectische bouwstijl. De rentenierswoning, die gebouwd is rond 1870, staat aan de noordzijde van het Westeinde en wordt hiervan door een ijzeren hek gescheiden.
Omschrijving
Deels onderkelderde rentenierswoning op een vrijwel rechthoekige plattegrond en bestaande uit een parterre en een kapverdieping onder een met zwarte Hollandse pannen bedekt afgeknot schilddak. Op de vier nokpunten staan gemetselde schoorstenen met metalen kappen. Het muurwerk is opgetrokken in rode baksteen, natuursteen en pleister. Pleister is toegepast in de geveldecoratie die onder meer bestaat uit vensteromlijstingen en lisenen. De geprofileerde vensteromlijstingen hebben een sierkrulmotief met in het midden een medaillon met mascaron. Alle vensteropeningen hebben schuifvensters met T-profiel. De hoeken van de vensters zijn alle afgeschuind. De symmetrische voorzijde (Z) telt vijf vensterassen en heeft een middenrisaliet en hoekpilasters. De middenrisaliet bevat de hoofdingang die bestaat uit een sierlijk bewerkte dubbele paneeldeur met bovenlicht. Boven de hoofdingang bevindt zich een balkon op gedecoreerde gietijzeren colonnetten, rustend op dwarsmuren te weerszijde van een hardstenen stoep. Onder de balkonplaat een van florale reliëfs voorziene lijst. De middenrisaliet zet zich voort in een met rijk pleisterwerk gedecoreerde dakkapel onder zadeldak. De dakkapel heeft een dubbele paneeldeur met glaspaneel en bovenlicht met keperboogvormige bovenzijde. De geveldelen aan weerszijden van de middenrisaliet tellen elk twee vensterassen en worden afgesloten door een kroonlijst met ijzeren rozetten. De linkerzijde (W), met pilaster op de beide hoeken, is vrijwel geheel blind, behalve op de linkerhoek, waar zich een venster bevindt. Het muurwerk wordt afgesloten door een kroonlijst met ijzeren rozetten. De rechterzijde (O), met pilasters op de beide hoeken, is ter linkerzijde blind, terwijl zich ter rechterzijde twee vensters bevinden. A GENTLEMAN'S RESIDENCE in eclectic architectural style. The gentleman's residence, which was built around 1870, stands on the north side of the Westeinde and is separated from it by an iron fence.
Description
Partially cellared gentleman's residence on an approximately rectangular floor plan and consisting of a ground floor and a roof space storey beneath a mansard roof covered with black Dutch tiles. On the four roof ridge points stand brick chimneys with metal caps. The masonry is built in red brick, natural stone and plaster. Plaster has been used in the facade decoration which consists amongst other things of window surrounds and pilaster strips. The moulded window surrounds have a decorative curl motif with a medallion containing a mask-head in the middle. All window openings have sash windows with T-profile. The corners of all windows are chamfered. The symmetrical front (S) has five window bays and features a central projection and corner pilasters. The central projection contains the main entrance which consists of a finely worked double panelled door with a fanlight. Above the main entrance is a balcony on decorated cast-iron colonnettes, resting on cross walls on either side of a hardstone step. Below the balcony panel is a list adorned with floral reliefs. The central projection continues in a roof dormer decorated with rich plasterwork beneath a gabled roof. The roof dormer has a double panelled door with glass panel and a fanlight with a basket-arch-shaped top. The facade sections on either side of the central projection each have two window bays and are finished with a cornice with iron rosettes. The left side (W), with a pilaster on both corners, is almost entirely blank, except on the left corner, where there is a window. The masonry is finished with a cornice with iron rosettes. The right side (E), with pilasters on both corners, is blank on the left side, while on the right side there are two windows. The masonry is finished with a cornice with iron rosettes. The rear (N) has corner pilasters like both side facades, but the cornice has no iron rosettes.
Valuation
The gentleman's residence with associated fence is of general importance for its architectural and cultural-historical value as a well-preserved example of distinguished 19th-century rural architecture.
