Inleiding
WOONHUIS dat rond 1910 is gebouwd en dat door de asymmetrische opbouw en detaillering invloed heeft van Art Nouveau. Aan de achterzijde van het woonhuis is later een verbinding met de achterliggende stolpschuur gemaakt.
Omschrijving
Woonhuis op vrijwel vierkante plattegrond en bestaande uit parterre en een kapverdieping onder samengestelde kap met vierzijdige torenspits die net als de kap bedekt is met rode tuiles du Nord. De kap heeft een kapel aan de linker (oost)- en de rechterzijde (west). Spits en nokpunten hebben pirons. Het muurwerk is in hoofdzaak opgebouwd uit rode baksteen en wordt ter decoratie afgewisseld met gele baksteen. Het muurwerk van de voorgevel en de beide zijgevels wordt aan de bovenzijde afgesloten met een balustrade in rode en gele baksteen. De balustrade boven de voorgevel heeft piron-achtige elementen. Het woonhuis heeft schuifvensters die niet alle gelijk zijn van hoogte en breedte. De vensters op de verdieping zijn lager dan de vensters op de parterre. Vrijwel alle schuifvensters hebben bovenlichten met glas-in-lood. en worden aan de bovenzijde afgesloten met een natuurstenen latei waarboven zich een rollaag bevindt. De rollaag bestaat uit gele en rode baksteen. Alle vensters in het woonhuis hebben keramische lekdorpels. De voorgevel (zuid) van het woonhuis heeft een smalle terugliggende middenpartij ter breedte van één vensteras. Deze middenpartij heeft op de parterre een paneeldeur met daarboven een balkon. Het balkon wordt geschraagd door twee consoles in gele baksteen. Ook de opengewerkte balustrade van het balkon is uitgevoerd in gele baksteen. De genoemde paneeldeur is voorzien van een glaspaneel en van snijwerk. Het geveldeel rechts (west) van de middenpartij telt één vensteras met schuifvenster op parterre en verdieping. De hoek met de rechterzijgevel is afgeschuind en voorzien van een schuifvenster. Het geveldeel links (oost) van de terugliggende middenpartij telt op de parterre één vensteras met afgeschuinde hoek op de parterre. De verdieping heeft twee vensterassen met rechte hoek. De rechterzijgevel (oost) heeft een houten serre met veertien ruiten en een stolpdeur. De bovenlichten hebben glas-in-lood. Rechts van de serre heeft de gevel twee schuifvensters. De linkerzijgevel (west) heeft een schuifvenster en een kleiner hooggeplaatst venster rechts daarvan. De achtergevel (zuid) is door de genoemde verbinding met de schuur wijziging aan het oog onttrokken. Het interieur bevat nog diverse oorspronkelijke onderdelen zoals rijk gedecoreerd tegelwerk in de vestibule, alsmede plafonds met papier maché details alsmede schouwen in de kamers.
Waardering
Het woonhuis is van algemeen belang als historisch-functioneel onderdeel van het woonhuis-boerderijcomplex Dorpsweg 159-159a en wegens architectuur- en cultuurhistorische waarde. A house on an almost square floor plan consisting of a ground floor and a mansard storey under a complex roof with a four-sided tower spire, which like the roof is covered with red tuiles du Nord. The roof has a dormer on the left (east) and right side (west). Spire and roof peaks have finials. The masonry is principally built in red brick and is adorned by alternating with yellow brick. The masonry of the front gable and both side gables is finished at the top with a balustrade in red and yellow brick. The balustrade above the front gable has finial-like elements. The house has sash windows which are not all equal in height and width. The windows on the upper floor are lower than the windows on the ground floor. Virtually all sash windows have fanlights with leaded glass and are finished at the top with a natural stone lintel above which is a roll course. The roll course consists of yellow and red brick. All windows in the house have ceramic drip moulds. The front gable (south) of the house has a narrow recessed central section the width of one window axis. This central section has a panel door on the ground floor with a balcony above it. The balcony is supported by two consoles in yellow brick. The open-work balustrade of the balcony is also executed in yellow brick. The aforementioned panel door is fitted with a glass panel and carved work. The facade section to the right (west) of the central section has one window axis with a sash window on the ground floor and upper floor. The corner with the right side gable is bevelled and fitted with a sash window. The facade section to the left (east) of the recessed central section has one window axis with bevelled corner on the ground floor. The upper floor has two window axes with a right angle. The right side gable (east) has a wooden conservatory with fourteen panes and a barn door. The fanlights have leaded glass. To the right of the conservatory the gable has two sash windows. The left side gable (west) has a sash window and a smaller high-set window to its right. The rear gable (south) is obscured from view by the aforementioned connection to the barn. The interior still contains various original components such as richly decorated tilework in the vestibule, as well as ceilings with papier mâché details and chimney pieces in the rooms.
Valuation
The house is of general importance as a historic-functional component of the house-farmhouse complex Dorpsweg 159-159a and for its architectural and cultural-historical value. The building also has ensemble value as a prominent element in the development along the Dorpsweg within the protected village scene of Twisk.
