Inleiding
In 1896 als gemeentehuis gebouwde villa in eclectische stijl, centraal gelegen aan de Brink in Gieten, nu in gebruik als verzamelgebouw voor kantoren.
Het gemeentehuis is een karakteristiek voorbeeld van de villa-achtige bebouwing waarmee de brink rond de eeuwwisseling verdicht werd.
In 1920 is het gemeentehuis verbouwd en uitgebreid met een burgemeester- en een wethouderskamer en twee cachotten. De uitbouw is U-vormig, onder zadel- en platdak. Aan de westzijde van de uitbouw een entreepartij uit de jaren '50.
De bescherming betreft het exterieur van het bouwdeel uit 1896.
Omschrijving
Villa opgetrokken in baksteen vanaf een gepleisterde plint over één bouwlaag onder met platte friese pannen gedekt schilddak. Op de nokeinden schoorstenen op basementen met diamantkoppen, afgedekt door kappen met profiellijstjes.
De gevels hebben een pilasterstelling vanaf de plint met een verkropt hoofdgestel met architraaf, fries en kroonlijst. In de voorsprongen zijn festoenen aangebracht. De bakstenen pilasters hebben een gepleisterd kapiteel en vier diamantkoppen. Ter hoogte van de diamantkoppen hebben de gevels speklagen. De T-vensters zijn segmentboogvormig en hebben een omgetrokken profiellijst op consoles, met bol en cylinder-motief en met Louis XV kuif.
In de symmetrische voorgevel (O) een middenpartij die het hoofdgestel doorbreekt. Op de begane grond in een segmentboogvormige portiek de entree, bestaande uit een dubbele paneeldeur met tondo en rondboog venster met sierrooster, onder een bovenlicht met segmentboog. De entree heeft een omgetrokken profiellijst die op gepleisterde pilasters staat. Boven de portiek gaat de gevel over in de dakkapel onder tongewelf. De gevel van de dakkapel heeft hoekpilasters en een rond gebogen kroonlijst, bekroond door een tuitstuk met sierhekwerk en een windvaan. In de geveltop een bifora met twee rondboog glasdeurtjes onder een profiellijst. Daarboven een gevelsteen met "gebouwd in 1896". Aan weerszijden van de entreepartij twee T-vensters. De oorspronkelijke stoep is gewijzigd om plaats te maken voor een hellingbaan.
In beide zijgevels twee T-vensters gescheiden door een blindnis. Aan de zuidzuide is onder de vensters een lage moderne uitbouw gemaakt.

Description
Villa constructed in brick from a plastered plinth over one storey under a hipped roof covered with flat Frisian tiles. On the ridge ends chimneys on bases with diamond heads, covered by caps with moulded profiles.
The facades have a pilaster arrangement from the plinth with a broken main entablature with architrave, frieze and cornice. Festoons are arranged in the projections. The brick pilasters have a plastered capital and four diamond heads. At the height of the diamond heads the facades have brick courses. The T-windows are segmental arch-shaped and have a moulded profile on consoles, with ball and cylinder motif and with Louis XV pediment.
In the symmetrical front facade (E) a central section that breaks through the main entablature. On the ground floor in a segmental arched portico the entrance, consisting of a double panelled door with tondo and round arch window with ornamental grille, under a fanlight with segmental arch. The entrance has a moulded profile that stands on plastered pilasters. Above the portico the facade transitions into the barrel-vaulted roof gable. The facade of the roof gable has corner pilasters and a curved cornice, crowned by a spout with ornamental railing and a weathervane. In the gable top a bifora with two round arch glazed doors under a moulded profile. Above it a building stone with "built in 1896". On either side of the entrance section two T-windows. The original stoep has been altered to make room for a ramp.
In both side facades two T-windows separated by a blind section. On the south side a low modern extension has been made below the windows.
