Inleiding
OPHAALBRUG, in de volksmond Gele Klap genaamd, over het Boterdiep gelegen in de bebouwde kom van Bedum, in 1926 aangelegd door de provincie Groningen. De brug ligt dwars over een knik die het Boterdiep naar oostelijke richting maakt en verbindt de weg aan de oostzijde van het Boterdiep met de Stationsweg die in het verlengde ervan ligt. De constructie van de brug was waarschijnlijk voor rekening van de Provinciale Waterstaat. De aanleg van de Gele Klap betekende een grote verbetering van de verkeerskundige situatie in de bebouwde kom van Bedum. Hiervoor kon het verkeer namelijk alleen het Boterdiep oversteken door middel van de brug tegenover het gemeentehuis, die over de tweede knik van het diep in noordelijke richting is gelegen.
Omschrijving
Ophaalbrug, schuin over het diep gelegen, is geheel geconstrueerd van geklonken staal. De hameipoort bestaat uit twee stalen I-profielen met stalen schoren en ertussen een dwarsligger van stalen vakwerk. De balans is eveneens van stalen vakwerkliggers geconstrueerd, de ballast is van staalplaat. Het brugdek bestaat uit geasfalteerde houten planken die rusten op stalen liggers; aan weerszijden een verhoging als trottoir. De brugleuning is van staal. Beide landhoofden zijn opgemetseld van kasseien met op de hoeken roze granieten elementen en aan de zijkanten beëindigd door een rollaag van rode baksteen. Origineel bedieningsmechanisme.

Introduction
BASCULE BRIDGE, popularly known as the Gele Klap, over the Boterdiep located in the built-up area of Bedum, constructed in 1926 by the province of Groningen. The bridge lies crosswise over a bend that the Boterdiep makes in an easterly direction and connects the road on the east side of the Boterdiep with the Stationsweg which lies in line with it.
